But online flash instead... upgrade Will not work!

Online flash? I thought it was done the same way as upgrading as normal by pressing menu?

There two options in the image

  • software update. This updates the current version installed with any updated packages available.
  • flash image. This flashes a new image (same or other version) with the option to backup your config before the flash (and restore it again after).

You can not use "software update" to upgrade to a new version.

I hope it is the right thread about this problem.

I've installed OpenPLI_7.0 on a Solo2 original box and have an Aver Media A867 USB to view terrestrial channels.

Whilst watching terrestrial channels everything works fine (after installing AF9035 driver and reboot, of course)

but the problem crops up when I change from a sat channel to a terrestrial one,  The image just hangs and needs

a full reboot to restart. No crash log is created either.  I will surely appreciate some help on this matter.

I doubt we can do anything about that, USB support has always been flakey.

Just a small observation. This also happens with OpenBH and OpenATV (and other OpenImages) but not with BH and VTI. Seems strange. Thanks anyway.

In the online flash menu only multiboot images are present for both 6.2 and 7 releases for Zgemma H7S.

Why isn't there a normal, non-multiboot image?

H7S is a multiboot receiver.

You can usb flash (select usb zip) or you can flash online (select multiboot zip).

With flash online you can always flash the 1st slot and then its just like a non-multiboot receiver.

If you flash a multiboot-capable box with a non-multiboot image, you destroy the multiboot partitions, i.e. you flash slot 1 and the remaining slots are corrupted. Which may be a problem if you were using multiboot...

Most images produce a zip that contains both a “disk image“ used for usb flashing (and varies in content depending on Broadcom or HiSilicon chip base) and the kernel and root which is used by online flashing.
OpenPli choose to provide a usb flash (the “disk mage“) and a separate zip called Multiboot which contains the kernel & root...... the same for most Arm receivers -multiboot or otherwise.
Depending on the receiver the “disk image“ may wipe all the multiboot partitions (some do, some don‘t). Online flashing with kernel+root just changes one partition - in a multiboot receiver you can choose which, in a receiver like Vu+ 4K you cannot.

It's just that on the website it shows both "normal" and multiboot zips whereas in the receiver menu it shows only multiboot image.

That's what was confusing me. I flashed a "normal" image and there is multiboot entry in shutdown menu.

E2 can only use the multiboot images. That’s why only these are visible.

Both images contain the same files! So they are equal and you will eg also see the multiboot menu in e2 after flashing normal image via usb stick.

What exactly did you install? Some ipk from outside the plugin management?

Looks like one of those packages has its dependencies wrong, or incorrectly assumes things are already installed.

You may try to install it manually:

opkg install libxslt

7.0 is released, so the 7.0-rc test image has been taken offline. Upgrade to 7.0-release.
