Hi,

I would like to buy a new stb with 4k and I need some information about the following STBs and your recommendation.

1. VU+ Uno SE 4k Twin Tuner (good quality, but I heard that not all functions don´t support with other images with a VU Box)

2. Vu+ Ultimo 4k (I cannot see the advantage of this mentioned box against the VU Uno SE 4k)

3. Giga Blue Quad 4k

4. AX 51 or Mutant 51 (cheap but the Design isn´t so nice)

In the german forum I heard that the FCC will be only supported by VU (FBC Tuner) and furthermore I´ve read in other forums that there are sometimes problems with the FCC feature?

I would like to hear your views which STB would you prefer propose.

Thanks

Doc

Yes FCC always tune to three or four channels continuesly at once... for fta this is nice... but when you have ci or a card with punishment mode for encrypted channels this is not done..
The choice for the tuner depends on what you want to spend and what features you need... eg for fbc sat you also need unicable or Jess lnb to really profit from it...

OpenPLi does not support FCC, and will not support FCC.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

I think FBC DVB-C is really attracting feature. I may just buy duo2 4k.

Unless you need all the extras(hdmi in, sata, additional usb), the Giga4K UE is a better deal than the Giga UHD 4K

Gigablue Quad 4K & UE 4K
.........FBC Tuners:
------------------> DUR-Line DCR 5-1-8-L4 Multiswitch to 1.5M dish(28.2E)
------------------> Spaun SUS 5581/33 NFA Multiswitch to 80 cm dish(19.2E)
.........DVB-S2X into 90cm dish (27.5W)

Octagon sf8008, AX HD61, Edision Osmio 4K+, Zgemma H9Combo using Legacy ports on multiswitches
Zgemma H9twin & Zgemma H9 C/S mode into Giga4K

The HD51 is a great receiver, but does not have the facilities of the Giga 4K ( I have both HD51 & the Giga 4K receivers ) - in terms of tuners (both fixed and pnp), and audio capabilities

@twol: What is better and have a better performance, Giga Blue or HD51, especially with Kodi and watching x265 movies?

If you are more interested in Kodi and movies then I would probably go with the Octagon SF8008 (native Kodi support)), it a pretty impressive box, and Kodi users seem impressed. - but then not supported currently by OpenPli.
I don‘t currently run Kodi on any E2 receivers, but would expect the Giga to be better than the HD51 (has a more advanced (later) chip from Broadcom)

The final word on FCC. I will not implement it because I have too little information on how it works and should be implemented (properly, not reverse engineered from the VU+ image). When VU+ (or someone else with thorough knowledge on this subject) can inform me, I will implement it.

I think if the hardware supports a certain feature, we should make it available to the end user, whether we like the feature or not.

FYI, hd51 (from Mutant, Ax, whatever) have the bcm7251 SoC, the Gigablue and the VU+Uno(SE) have bcm7252 and the Ultimo4k has bcm7444. That is interesting, because the 7251 is a "budget" SoC, the 7252 is "mainline" and 7244 is "high end". That has implications. There are certain things a 7251 simply can't do, you should consider that.

Ok thank you for your efficient information. But I have a last question

I heard that not all features will be supported at VU STBs from other images, is that just the FCC?

Thanks
