Hi,

On your STB you can install a package that will install iconv on your receiver.

iconv is a command line tool that will allows you to convert in bulk mode all your subtitles into UTF-8.

Doing this one by one with Notepad++ will certainly became rapidly boring.

DTS problem is BACK.

After watching my archive of old movies - with DTS sound,

I have proof, that OpenPli v6.x has problem with decoding DTS on same movies, where  OpenPli v4 has NOT problem.

I am absolutely sure,

So - any opinion ?

Thanks

Not without knowing exactly what is in these files. Is is possible to post a small one somewhere, so it can be looked at?

In both OpenPLi 4 and OpenPLi 6.2, the Xtrend 7500 has drivers dated 2017-04-24, so whatever it is, is is not caused by a driver difffence.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I'd attached screenshot of screen from MediaInfo sofware with basic info about codecs inside of mkv container of movies.

From name of picture is clear, what movie is 'Ok' or not

if this info is not enough, I do not know if I should trouble you with this problem by sending some piece of those movies ..

should I ?

I am pretty sure, that movie with not working sound was Ok under OpenPli v4

Thanks

I am pretty sure I mentioned this before, DTS support is almost always flakey, you can't rely on it. There are two reasons for it:

- DTS is not used by DVB, so it doesn't need to be working for the receiver to be sold as "DVB compliant receiver"

- DTS is costly for the manufacturer in terms of licensing, they rather not support it

The difference in audio quality between DTS and AC3 (aka "Dolby Digital") is at least questionable, so the best way really is to convert the DTS audio into AC3 or, if the media has both DTS and AC3 audio, use the AC3 one.

That still doesn't explain why it (= the same file) works in OpenPLi 4 but it doesn't in OpenPLi 6.2, given the same hardware and driver version.

This is what intriges me, and why I asked for a sample.

what size of the examples should be ?

How can I send you them ?

Large enough to see they don't work, a minute is long enough I think. ;)

How to transfer depends on the size of the file, there are plenty of free options online, from wetransfer to using Google Drive...

The old drivers have issues with proc writing (volume, osd position) on openpli 6.0 and above and the new drivers have other issues (dts, playback streams).... Nothing openpli can solve... but as the kernel is not changed you can try the older drivers by copy and past them out of the openpli 4.0 package...

It's a probably due to gstreamer. Not necessarily a bug in gstreamer, but another way of dealing with (interface) that the drivers can't properly deal with.

are 2 files. One - ...NO-SOUND, which was working under v4.x for sure. second is working correctly on v6.2

will it help ?

I think it should be problem between gstreamer and/or drivers ...

Thanks

On the VU Duo 4K, 7.0-rc, I have audio with both, but I have to enable downmix, my TV doesn't support DTS.

I have also downmix to stereo enabled

so problem is with drivers of Xtrend ...

??

I will convert problem movies to AAC - it take less then 10 minutes ...

I think, we have - you have - more important problems ..

thanks !!

Dunno, If it is a driver issue, you're probably out of luck, Xtrend as a brand is "dead".
