Hi,

I bought a new USB external hard drive for my VU + Zero 4K. Now I know from OpenPLi that the hard drive is automatically initialized and mounted as an USB device (/media/usb)

But to mount the hard drive as an HDD (/media/hdd) I have to rename or re-label it.

But how exactly do I do that? Unfortunately, I can not find any help or wiki.

Thank you very much!

PS: I could also use the "Mount Manager" extension, but I'd like to know how to do it without it.

Win in cmd:LABEL

Box ... install dosfstools as "opkg install dosfstools", then in telnet:  fatlabel device label

Sorry, but I do not really understand that.

Win = Windows? I have a MacBook ;-)

Box with dosfstools = Here I would have to connect the new HDD before to the Zero, then it will be mounted as USB when booting. Hmmm....???

Another, more understandable method does not exist?

The simplest answer by far is "not". The box doesn't really care where the disk is mounted, it just defaults to recording on the largest local disk. There's no real advantage in naming it "hdd".

Ok, then only the Mount Manager Extension remains ;-) Here you can with the option "Label" rename the hard drive, if desired.

Or with a push of a button on "Mount as HDD" integrate the disk as such.

Seems to me the easiest way to be.

Thank you!

PS: Or let it be as USB...

There's no real advantage in naming it "hdd".

I use iDreamX for Mac and have totally overlooked that I can adjust the paths (favourites) there manually ... shame on me ...!

Now I just connected the new HDD, was mounted as a USB device and then adapted the paths in iDreamX. Running!!!

I'm really excited how easy it all works with OpenPLi. Maybe I should not have started with VTI ... so I want to make settings that are no longer necessary ...

Sorry for the stupid question, but thanks anyway for the help  :)
