No news. As they still didn’t supply a proper working BSP.
A first private build has been created, works ok, but even then it’l take a while before we will provide official support. We still have some details on our wishlist. ;)

Please Release That quickly so that we can get openpli flavor for our Octagon SF8008.

As long as the manuafacturer's developmentteam seems not being able to adapt their BSP in a proper way there will never be an image for that box.

They are aware that their BSP should be adjusted but due to, at least for me, unknown reasons that hasn't been done. They are keen having an OpenPLi image but our hands are tightened.

But there is one thing which I don't underastand.....

SatDreamGr have images for octagon : http://sgcpm.com/sat...ages-6/octagon/

SatDreamGr is OpenPLi based (OpenPLi dev. + some image own patches), so if they can produce images for Octagon, why aren't you able to?

This hasn’t got anything to do with being abled. The responsability of the BSP is at the manufacturer.
Some image builders create the BSP for the manufacturer and we don’t. That’s the simple explanation.

So, I understand that all current supported manufacturer STBs BSP's have been created and are maintained by themselves…

If you need Octagon to adapt their current BSP..... sit down and wait…… they won't do it.

Correct. If a manufacturer can't even create and support a BSP, how are we going to support end users?

I personally wouldn't buy hardware for which the manufacturer doesn't seem to be bothered to put any effort into supporting the people buying that hardware...

Octagon has said they would like an OpenPLi image, and they have said they would create a BSP. So far, they've thrown an OE-A copy over the wall (which obviously doesn't work at all) or pointed us towards SatDreamGr (which we won't work with either).

I can't be too bothered with that, if you as an end-user want OpenPLi, don't buy an Octagon. We're not in the business of creating/enabling their profit.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

With respect WanWizard, that is really ####. Of course it works in the OE-A environment, several images build from it every night.
It just doesn‘t fit with the OpenPli meta setup and with your restricted resources, that you would rather spend your time doing other things.

https://github.com/O...E2/meta-octagon is ok too but I do agree with "WanWizard", providing proper support must be the first thing users should check.

The manufacturer should do something right? otherwise they're just selling a hardware nothing more.

You need to read.

I didn't write that OE-A doesn't work, I wrote that the OE-A BSP (part, as they have one single repo with everything in it) is useless to build OpenPLi OE.

You don’t have to agree with the way we deal with all manufacturers, but that is the way we already do this from the start and ‘all’ manufacturers agreed with that. If they want our support, they deliver the BSP. If not, no support. It is their choice from the first day we contacten. It is as simple as that.

I didn't write an OE-A image doesn't work. You read what you want to read.

You can not copy the OE-A BSP part to OpenPLI OE and expect it to work. This is what this topic is about.

We are (kind of) still on speaking terms but as long as they don’t adapt their BSP it’s over for the moment.
Besides from this discussion, there’s only one which decides whether a brand is going to be supported or not.
For now I close this to prevent that the athmosphere gets nasty, and all has been said how it works. ;)
