Please test with 7.1 rc image, whether it fixes your problems.

By the way I also found the reason why rewind stops several seconds before start of the file. The rewind process sends immediately after reaching start of the file an "start of file" event. This event causes e2 to stop rewind and start playback. But there is still data in the driver buffer which was not shown on the tv. At the end of the file (normal playback or fast forward) there is a mechanism to prevent this. For start of file the devs forgot to add it.

I will commit my changes, but they won't be in 7.1 image.

By the way: It also depends on box drivers. On a quad4k with my changes it only works the first time. If you try it a second time without stopping the playback, it don't work properly. On a e4hd with my patch it works properly.

Is it new in 7.1rc or was it already there before?
Do you have .ap and .sc files on your NAS for that movie and can e2 access them?

with 7.1

thx, view .ap in all files............sc only in some recordings and indeed those that do have this type of extension does not reproduce the problem.

Why is it that some recordings have this extension and others do not?

without extension .sc up to 8x no problem ... it is generated from 16x.

ummm I'm doing tests and it's not like that ... I have recordings without extension .sc and rewind at all speeds without problems.

.sc files should be always created afaik. .ap are not generated for timeshifit recordings, but all other recordings should have them.

.sc file is used for fast forward/rewind. If it is missing, you CAN get problems. So at best install reconstructapsc plugin and create .sc and .ap files for the files which don't have them (via movie list -> menu). Then test again.

Flashed 7.1rc, and can confirm that it fixes the issue as far as my quick limited testing goes. Perfect!

Just to confirm: this happens only on rewind for you? While testing the earlier fix a few more times with longer recordings, I consistently have an early stop on both rewind and fast forward. Have you tested with a longer recording?

To be honest fast forward to the end of the file I didn’t test.

Which box do you use? As said it is also dependence on the box drivers. On a Gigablue it worked the first time without problems and the second time (without restarting playback) rewind stopped before the start of the file. On a e4hd it worked good.
And which speed did you use? 2x, 4x, 8x is handled in a different way than faster speeds.

Will try fast forward in the next days.

I have a VU+ Uno 4K SE. I was mostly testing with the higher speeds (>= 32x) due to the length of the recordings, I can check a bit later if this is visible also with slower speeds.

You were right, the behavior (with 7.1-rc) is different for speeds up-to 8x, and for higher speeds.

up-to 8x: only rewind skips

over 8x: both rewind and fast forward skips
