All,

I installed the jade firmware to my 7020 yesterday.

It all looks good and the timeshift is a good adition. (i have it on all the time)

The thing is that there is regularly a delay on

1: changing channels.
2: the status bar disappearing after changing channels (it wont allow changing channels once the status bas is visible but it changes the channel once the status bar disappears)
3: the receiver stays on the channel thats on and you cant change it or use remote without rebooting the receiver. (web access doesnt work until reboot either) happened 3-4 times in 24 hours. I havent had to reboot IOLITE for 3-4 weeks.
4: in the epg or pressing the down arrow for current programs there is sometimes a long delay 10-20 secs before the information appears in the popup box.

Is this something to do the hard disk activity. (timeshift set to 30 secs and for 30 mins)
The image is on the device not disk and the EPG is stored on compact flash.
The issues above vaguely resemble issues I had when multibooting and the image and EPG data was on the hard disk.
Have others noticed this delay or are most having smooth action in changing channels, browsing epg etc.
Is time shift activity on hard disk having impact on performace or smooth operation.

Excellent

well, when you have to wait for the hdd to wakeup, it's 'normal' the osd gets blocked for a few seconds.
But this shouldn't happen when the hdd is already spinning.

Thanks for the reply.

But if the timeshift is on and recording would the disk not be awake all the time.

Since installing Jade on my 7020 I am using all the things you mentioned (and some more) without having any trouble. Timeshift works perfect, absolutely no delay as described by you.
This time installing Jade was the first time I installed it clean into flash, so without any multiboot environment. I noticed that running my box with Jade directly out of flash performs better in many needs.

Have you maybe running Jade in multiboot? Flashwizard or Barry Allen?
Have you created a swapfile?

I have a large capacity landisk and a internal 4GB non spinning IDE flash. I record movies and mp3 on landisk. I'd like to record timeshift on internal IDE flash device. Is there a way to achieve this? Thanks.

That is a very good question. I have absolutly no issues when it comes to delay, and permanent timeshift works perfectly, but the DB becomes very warm and i can hear the HD spinning so i`v been wondering if it was possible to let the timeshift record to USB memory stick.

Good

Very easy: just select the USB-stick or CF-card in the "recording and playing" menu. However, all your normal recordings will be recorded on that location too. There's no difference between normal recordings and timeshifts.

It would be nice if you could select other than default "record and playing" location for timeshift recordings.

Good idea. I'll see what I can do.

All,

I have disabled the timeshift for 2-3 weeks now and find that the response time from changing channels, getting program info and channel lists is virtually zero.

When the timeshift is enabled there is an obvious delay in menus etc.

As I dont use the time shift very often I turned it off, pity though as it is a feature that is handy.
