Can you connect the box for a few minutes via LAN cable to the internet? If yes, download the package via plugins -> softwaremanagement or connect via Telnet and use opkg to install the missing package.

Install it the same way you installed the kernel driver package.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I have the box connected via LAN to the internet, and I downloaded the kernel package via: software plugins -> management. But the problem is that later, I go to the drivers to download the MT7601U, but it is not in the list of drivers. That is why I cannot install it in the same way that I installed the kernel package.
I have never done the installation using "opkg". I will see if I can find out how it is done by searching the forum.
If this does not work, I will have to change the OpenPli image to another one that already has the drive included.
Thank you very much for the help

I have no idea what you are talking about.
There are two packages needed: kernel-module-mt7601u (the driver) and firmware-mt7601u (the adapter firmware).
You install them via Menu - Plugins - Software Management - Advanced options - Package Management:

I have no clue what you are on about. What "drtiver"? There are only two files, and the kernel-module-mt7601u IS the driver.
So there are now only two possitbilities: your device needs a different driver, or your device isn't supported by the driver (because it is newer than the kernel).
Both can be checked using the USB ID of your device. Log in with telnet, enter the command "lsusb", and post the result here.

148f:7601 is an MT7601U, alright.
Can do you unplug the device, then type the command:
dmesg -c
ignore the output, then plug the device back in, and type the command
dmesg
and post the output here?
Ideally via copy and paste, of a larger image, this one is very difficult to read.
And I also would like to see the result of
opkg list-installed | grep mt7601u
( p.s. use the "more reply options" button to attach images, it's better than using external sites )

It's logical it says "could not find", what gives you the idea a package with that name exists?
The problem you have is in the previous post, the driver crashes on load. If this is the official driver from the feed, and not something you installed from somewhere, then there's nothing we can do.

Others my create their own BSP, we don't, we build whatever the manufacturer supplies.
OpenVision builds their driver out of tree from the looks of it, we can't do that, it will collide with the BSP kernel configuration.

I happened to test a stick like this too on a H10 with the recent Nightly build and there it was recognized. Vu+ has a much older kernel if I recall right.

The name of the driver depends on whether is is supported by the kernel or not.
It is called "kernel-module-mt7601usta" for kernels that don't support it, "kernel-module-mt7601u" for kernels that do.
Also, don't forget to install "firmware-mt7601u" (in both cases).

@Aliraza63
Thanks for the information.
I will test this on some random boxes to test whether my budget WIFI stick will be recognized too.
