The number is not relevant as long as it can be detected.

Problem remains, as betacentauri correctly mentions, that some boxes can boot from another device than the designated boot device (you can even boot the box from NFS is you want), but still you want to blacklist that boot device...

But you can only brik boxes when you format the primar boot box... when you have multiboot the ‘drive’ that has the STARTUP files... bit not all boxes with emmc are multiboot....
So for I know I have no idea how to detect this properly

I also have no idea how detect that automatically.

OE-Alliance adds informations into the BSP layers so that the internal flash device can be ignored/blacklisted.

Not a possibility we have at the moment.

Not a possibility we would like either, hardcoding it.

I think the multiboot code has logic to find partitions that contain bootable images. Perhaps that can be generalized to return a list of devices that contain those partitions, so they can be blacklisted?

When there are more emmcs the partition with the startup files is the only one that should be hidden...
We can also consider to list the partition in hasemmc system config and only hide the partition listed in this system info key... then in systeminfo.py we have the only exceptions. And then just hide the partition....

Read what betacentauri wrote.

If you boot from SD (the second eMMC device !) than that has the startup files on it. That doesn't mean its fine to format the first eMMC device, that means you may brick the box.

Yes I read... but when formatting the sd you do not brik the box... you just delete all the images???

I don't know what other partitions are on the internal eMMC device? Like the boot loader partition?

In Systemsinfo(multiboot)  you already specify the eMMC device which handles the diiference between most rmultiboot receivers (mmcblk0) and teh Edision (mmcblk1) so its not too difficult  (after all you don‘t build for the Octagon SF8008 which uses the sd card as a multiboot device or have the h9 using the sdcard )

True, but that doesn't mean we should ignore the possibility. Discussions with Octagon are still ongoing, but they seem to lack the skills to create a working BSP.

I would concentrate on the rest -the SF8008 uses a multiboot setup that is totally diifferent from the other multiboot receivers and has to be specifically coded for -not something OpenPli likes to do (And I agree with that concept)

Hope you mean h9combo which is more typical of the Zgemma boxes, h9 is different type in terms of root/kernel and how it treats SD card

I need an image for every box that has an eMMC boot device, and a separate eMMC slot, for test purposes, we have to make sure users don't format the boot device by accident.

May take a while, my server takes at least 2 hours for a build, and my poor health doesn't permit me to do anything for hours on end...

If someone is willing to test this: https://github.com/O...f2725bc89930e60 ?

Please let me know if it works, also if it doesn't show the boot device by mistake (and if so, do not format it! ;)).

Harddisk doesn't see the SD card, MountManager (from Plugins) does see it (I copied Harddisk mgr from Develop into current 7.2)
