USB DVB-T2 tuner supported on Zero 4k?

HWTest's Photo HWTest 2 Dec 2019

I'm looking for a good USB DVB-T2 tuner which will work and is supported on VU+ Zero 4k.

Because the VU+ Turbo tuner is phased out ...

Any suggestions?

With sundtek you will get real and effective support. In case of problem grant them access to your box and they will investigate.

You can probably find chinese DVB-T2 stick but then you will have to fight yourself with the drivers.

But it is always better to purchase the plugin version of the tuner so the manufacturer is responsible for the driver.

USB stick is a gamble.

Sundtek - I know what to expect, I have the older one (DVB-T only).

It works in most boxes but for instance not in the Wetek Play and the support did not help. In 2016 I created a thread in their support forum about this problem, I was advised to create a ticket, I did and ... nothing, that was it :-(

Next problem with Sundtek is they are not available locally (only the older DVB-T only model) and I would like to have it before Christmas.

That rules out also sticks from China ...

A plugin tuner would be my first choice but It is a Zero 4k - no plugable tuners

I don't think anything works in Wetek Play in E2.

Same as GigaBlue 4K receivers.

I'm not sure but I think a rtl2832 based dongle worked on the Wetek.

AVerMedia - TD310?

With which driver? dvb-usb-af9035?

Would be great because it's in stock.

I do not know, used AVerMedia very many years ago.
But I think there will be no problems.

According the information I gathered about the TD310, it doesn't look promising and I'm not going to gamble (again).

I'm looking for something that is verified to work.

Then buy a VU+ Zero 4K with DVB-C/T2 build in. Works like a charm. Or get a newer box that offers both DVB-S2 and DVB-C/T2... Can be had around €100.. USB tuners are fine if you are into Russian Roulette....

Buying another box is not really an option (and not the answer to my question).

Actually it IS.. USB tuners (whether DVB-C or DVB-T(2) are notorious for crashes due to driver problems. Many USB sticks do not have support for the older Linux kernels used in STB's. If you are lucky to find one working, it may nor after a software update..

Even Sundtek?

OK, I rephrase my question - any USB DVB-T2 tuners working on Zero 4k with the actual image (and is not from Sundtek)?

There are a dozen drivers on the feed, some are for ATSC, some for DVB-S2, some for DVB-T and some have to be for DVB-T2 (Turbo tuner for instance).

But there is not much information, which is which and which works with which stick.

I've bought an Hauppauge WinTV-Duet HD Clé USB Double tuner TNT HD and I have a lot of problems with my ET9100, it crashes often even if I have done a lot of tests. I tried it on the Ultimo 4K but it doesn't work. I don't do a lot of tests with this box. Finally I bought another Ultimo 4K with internal TNT tuner.

If you buy a Sundtek, I shall be happy to know if it works fine. It seems there is not dual TNT tuner   ?

DTT, DVB-T in France.

"Television  Numerique Terrestre", or something like that.

The Xbox One Tuners work on newer Vu receivers on OE-A images. Vu have not added the drivers to their BSP file that PLI uses, so not an option for you if you want to use PLI. I have another thread about it.

Yes, sorry, TNT for DVB-T or T2.

Abu, I don't understand, do you say Xbox One Tuners don't work on Vu+ ?

Correct. They do not work on PLI. They work on Vix/ATV etc
