I have used OpenPLi 7.0 RC for a long time. Back then I got my WiFI stick working by using the following command: opkg install rt8812au

Now I reflashed the VU Zero box to 7.2 and updated the software, but when I execute the command, I get the following: Couldn't find anything to satisfy 'rt8812au'.

Is there any other way to install the driver? Also, I still have a fullbackup. Can I somehow repackage the package/driver and transfer over to 7.2?

Wifi Stick: EDUP 11AC 600Mbps Wireless (uses rt8812au)

To state the obvious, the dongle is not working and I use a RJ45 connection for the moment.

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers

I think it was repackaged/combined into kernel-module-8723a:

kernel-module-8723a - 4.1.6-r0.0 - Realtek 8723A v1.0
 Realtek 8723A v1.0.
8723au kernel module; Realtek Wireless Lan Driver
Driver for Realtek USB wireless devices
8723bu kernel module; Realtek Wireless Lan Driver
8812au kernel module; Realtek Wireless Lan Driver
8814au kernel module; Realtek Wireless Lan Driver
88x2bu kernel module; Realtek Wireless Lan Driver
dvb-usb-rtl28xxu kernel module; Realtek RTL28xxU DVB USB driver
r8152 kernel module; Realtek RTL8152 Based USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapters
r815x kernel module; Realtek USB ECM device
r8188eu kernel module; Realtek Wireless Lan Driver

But when I install it via opkg install kernel-module-8723a and reboot the box, the dongle is still not working :/ (nothing shown in settings and also not ifconfig)

Do I somehow need to activate this kernel module now?

ID of the dongle: 0bda:0811

usb 1-2: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ehci-brcm
root@vuzero:~# lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by
nfsd                  100483  11
exportfs                4243  1 nfsd
ipv6                  330791  58
fpga_directc             477  0
brcmfb                  1590  3
dvb_bcm7362          6651464  28 brcmfb
procmk                  1668  1 dvb_bcm7362

Seems like the driver isn't loaded.

Fixed!

opkg install kernel-module-8812au*

I actually didn't find the correct package somehow until now. I probably used opkg list | grep the wrong way. Sorry for the trouble!

Thanks

Some drivers are only available in the kernel from a specific kernel version, and need to be build "out-of-tree" for older kernel versions.

Those build recipies have been renamed so that the name of the driver is the same, wiether part of the kernel tree or not.

USB ID 0bda:0811 is an rtl8812au, not a 8723a.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.
