Help please about VLC

Dimuthu's Photo Dimuthu 21 Sep 2008

I had VLC v0.8.6e & was managed to use it to stream the DM pictures to the PC as discribed in
http://www.pli-image...a=GenericStream
I was even managed to stream MPEG4 channels as well.

WhenVLC released 0.9.2 version, I have downloaded it & installed. SinceI don't like the look of it, I uninstalled it & reinstalled version0.8.6e. But now I can't stream any channel to the PC & even web-xnot work. Then I tried with VLC 0.8.6c but the result was same.

Cananyone please help me to make the streaming from DM to PC workingagain? This is needed as Dialog TV is going to change all moviechannels to MPEG4 soon.

I think I answered this on another web site for you already. You need to uninstall 0.9.2 and then when you reinstall (I would use 0.8.6i) you need to select the Mozilla Plugin as well.

If that does not work which it should work 100% as this is is exactly what I did on this PC, use an app like CCleaner (google it) to clean your registry and try again.

Good luck

jonc, thanks for your reply.

I did uninstalled 0.9.2 & reinstall 0.8.6 after a reboot. While installing, I have selected both ActiveX & Mozilla plugin.

Still it does not work.

Although I can't watch the stream via 192.168.1.3:31344 (192.168.1.3 is my dreambox IP),

I can watch individual streams (video & Audio separately) via
192.168.1.3:31338/<vid> (ex 192.168.1.3:31338/1389h)
192.168.1.3:31338/<aid> (ex 192.168.1.3:31338/138ah)

Will this help you to assist me?

Do you think web-x-tv or stream from webif ? Did you enable Preferences > Input/Codecs > Demuxers > Playlist > Enable parsinf of EXTVLCOPT: options in VLC ?
Quote

Dimuthu's Photo Dimuthu 21 Sep 2008

I have tried both ways. Also Zapstream using 192.168.1.3:31344

But nothing working.

Preferences > Input/Codecs > Demuxers > Playlist > Enable parsinf of EXTVLCOPT was not enable & not I tried with enabling it. Still no luck.
How come everyting works fine before installing 0.9.2 & not working now?

Please try to help.

Starting vlc 0.8.6 and opening http://192.168.1.3:31344 should always work. Did you verify the version you are using? Can you post the output of the vlc messages window?

Ok strange, zapstream isn't reading any data.

My questions to you:
- Which image do you use in flash? (as the kernel en driver of that image is used)
- Do you use a PLi oldframebuffer image?

One strange thing I noticed. Zapstream isn't waiting after the zap. Between the next 2 lines, there should at least be 100ms.
25-09-2008 21:31:01.080908 15473 we're waiting..
..
25-09-2008 21:31:01.082603 15473 timeout after zap => init demux
Please edit /var/etc/zapstream.conf and set 'delayafterzap' to 2000000. (Yes I should have used ms instead of ns ;) )
But you might have caught a bug. I'll check.

Oh, you've got delayafterzap at 5 sec already. I didn't look at the right spot. But the questions above still stand.

The main Image is Gemini 4.1

On top of that I have installed Barry Allen plugin & using that I have installed Pli Jade. Do I have to put Pli Jade as the Base (Flash) Image?
Quote

Dimuthu's Photo Dimuthu 26 Sep 2008

Ok the problem might be due to the main image is Gemini.

Now I have removed Gemini & installed PLi as the Flash image. The zapstream working now.

Thanks all for the time & support.

BTW what can be the problem that it won't work when the base image is Gemini?
Quote

Sjaaky's Photo Sjaaky 27 Sep 2008

Super :)

Probably an incompatibility with the driver. I guess a newer Gemini will work fine.
Did you ever manage to make a good recording? Because technically it's almost the same.
