Any chance of making provision for Automatic - Daylight Saving time adjustment depending on your timezone ?

most timezones are correct, which means dst should be 'adjusted' automatically
(on linux, timezones and dst are just an offset, the clock itself never changes, so you don't have to do anything as long as you configure the correct timezone)

Don't you find your timezone it in the selection list of enigma/enigma2?
And if you do, doesn't it work correctly?

Yes , I had the correct timezone configured ( GMT +12:00 Auckland ) . Over the weekend we went through daylight saving adjustment , however the time did not adjust ( should go forward 1 hour ) . An easy work around was to change timezone ( GMT +13:00 Nukalofa ) which corrects everthing ( even the EPG lines up correctly ) .
Maybe all that is needed is an extra timezone period for countries that have daylight saving eg.. ( GMT +13:00 DST - Auckland ) .

the dst information should be in the zoneinfo. Perhaps the zoneinfo is outdated. Did the dst date change recently?

What type of box do you have?

Yes , law changes were made last year ( DST was extended by 2 weeks at the beginning and 2 weeks at the end )

Daylight Saving Time

Daylight Saving commences on the last Sunday in September, when 2.00am becomes 3.00am, and ends on the first Sunday in April the following year, when 3.00am becomes 2.00am.

maybe this is the problem

ok, so we need to update tzinfo in openembedded.
Was planned already in april this year, patches were sent upstream, but not committed yet...
Looks like we'd better make our own changes, and no longer wait for openembedded to be updated.

yeah, I raised this on Austech, doesn't seem to update.

I tried an update that Bartender posted about , replacing the localtime in /var/etc with a file called Auckland in zoneinfo.tgz (renaming accordingly of course)

In the meantime, I have changed to GMT +13, but i'd rather not have to do that.

a further update (cross posted and tidied up from Austech)

hmmm, by changing the timezone, it messed my recording up. It has moved all my recurring recordings an hour forwards (ie starting at 2027 instead of 1927).

Also my DM500 seems to have adjusted fine, just my DM7020 hasn't made the change properly. Am using Jade on both boxes

As pieterg already mentioned, it's an openembedded issue. It affects the 500+, the 600, 7020, 7025 and 800. It does not affect the 56xx, the 500 and the 7000 (which don't use openembedded).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

further to this... will this correct itself next Sunday when daylight saving was meant to have started? (prior to this year)

yes it will.
BTW, we've fixed this in the Jade final, which will be released soon.

little tip; because this is a jade update, on your dm7020 you might want to use

ipkg update
ipkg upgrade

(in a shell, e.g. using telnet)

so you don't have to reflash (and reconfigure)
