A partition may contain anything, don't assume it contains a bootable image, a bootable enigma image, or even an imge at all...

Currently in use: VU+Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), Amiko Viper T2C (T2), SAB Alpha Triple HD (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H ©, Zgemma H6 (fallback), VU+Zero (fallback)

@Littlesat - the issue is with the If statement that checks if Enigma2 is present - it always gives a false positive - I wasted half a day on my empty slot routine apparently not working - then I left the mount outstanding so that I could check and the rename had worked - but the if statement still gave a positive.

I reverted to strightforward simple code (e.g. you know where its mounted)  and that works.

What did you do???? Did you manipulate the code yourself?

I always manipulate the code!

this statement if os.path.isfile(os.path.join(imagedir, '/usr/bin/enigma2')):

appears to resolve to /usr/bin/enigma2 and obviously the isfile is positive

It checks for an image present when the enigma2 binary file exists.... I do not understand what uou mean this is always true or what you did change...

I take multiboot Image i.e.

https://neutrino-images.de/board/

and with ofgwrite I put in a free partition, an USB image destroys all installed partitions

Then do not do it...!!!!! Or complaint there!!!!

Sounds they inserted a fake enigma binary file so Multiboot recognize it as image

But you told it destroys partitions.....???

But was the crash in that thread coming from an Neutrino image... Then the crash was due to the opkg status package does not exists which is used to obtain the image upgrade time.

With latest mod this should not crash anymore.

an USB image (disk.img) destroys partitions not a multiboot image (imageversion, kernel.bin, rootfs.tar.bz2) flashed with ofgwrite, that is what I said

It checks for an image present when the enigma2 binary file exists.... I do not understand what uou mean this is always true or what you did change...

This statement:-

                           if os.path.isfile('%s/usr/bin/enigma2' %imagedir):           finds the enigma2 file in the mounted image.

This statement:-

                           if os.path.isfile(os.path.join(imagedir, '/usr/bin/enigma2')):  finds the enigma2 file in the live image - it resolves to /usr/bin/enigma2 not imagedir/usr/bin/enigma2 (don't ask me why)

which is why you need the try and except loop later.

It should give the same results....

root@vuultimo4k:~# cat test
import os
imagedir = '/tmp/startuproot'
print '%s/usr/bin/enigma' % imagedir
print os.path.join(imagedir, 'usr/bin/enigma')
root@vuultimo4k:~# python test
/tmp/startuproot/usr/bin/enigma
/tmp/startuproot/usr/bin/enigma
