WanWizard 16 Feb 2020
As of today, OpenPLi 7.2-rc is available for test, for the Octagon SF8008 and Edision OS Mini 4K.
Both will be part of the upcoming 7.3-release, but this rc allows early testing by the public.
NB: Multiboot is not yet supported for the SF8008 in this release candidate !

I just installed it in Octagon SF8008 Combo and I can say that I was very satisfied, it is super fast and fluid, even though it is not the final version, I am going to install it on the flasch because I think it is already able to become the main image. Not a single bug could I find, congratulations for the excellent work and thank you very much

NB: Multiboot is not (completely) supported for both the OSmini4K as the SF8008 in this release candidate !
When you say not completely, what do you mean exactly ?

Is my mistake. Is a copy / paste error.
As this RC for the sf8008 and the OSmini 4K is a 'special case' it is better to inform the users before users report that Multiboot isn't working as it should.
In the OSmini 4K you can install more images but choosing the image from the menu is only possible direct after having installed it. That's the reason I wrote completely.

I've corrected my original post.
The multiboot issue is only for the SF8008, which uses a non-standard system with an additional SD card instead of eMMC partitions...
jpuigs 17 Feb 2020
I've tried the image on my SF8008, and it works fine.
One question.
I have the SatDreamGR 6 image installed too, which is openpli based, and I have a Hauppauge winTV Solo HD USB DVB-T/T2 tuner working.
But it doesn't work on Openpli RC7.2
I can install it, configure it, and when I select any DVB-T channel it hangs enigma 2 (rolling dots).

.... so SDG 6 is already patched....
I supose you know it... but in order to make it work on SDG6, I have to create a file in /usr/bin/ called enigma2_pre_start.sh, and write inside it :
modprobe em28xx card=94 echo "2040 0264" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/em28xx/new_id

Installing this image reduces the available flash memory
Before: OpenATV on flash memory
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 6.6G 332.2M 6.3G 5% /
after installing OpenPli
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 6.4G 282.4M 5.8G 5% /
How to restore this ? ...

Just wondering, what part of 5.8G available isn't enough?
This probably has to do with the multiboot system, which isn't available in this release yet, and which requires a different partition scheme.

I think there is a bug in (video) drivers since ever....
We go to SETUP => System =>A/V Settings and => Display 4:3 content as....
Pan&Scan and PillarBox modes are exchanged.
When watching a 4:3 channel, if we set it to Pan&Scan, we should see a full width picture (losing top & bottom part).
If we set it to Pillarbox, we should see black vertical bars at the left & right side of full height picture.
OK ?
The problem is that they do it wrong. Pillarbox works as Pan&Scan, and Pan&Scan as Pillarbox.
Pr2 20 Feb 2020
So Pan&scan drop the left and right part of the 16:9 movie so you only see the central part of it. But 4:3 TV is displaying a full screen image.
While pillarbox are displaying the full 16:9 movie but with black bar on top and bottom of the screen.
Pr2 20 Feb 2020
So depending on the TV screen format the behaviour is just the opposite.
But for me Pan&Scan and pillarbox better applied to a 4:3 screen format and scale image linear or not rather apply to a 16:9 screen format.
jpuigs 20 Feb 2020
4:3 TV and 16:9 video signal:
Letterbox: Inserts black bars at the top & bottom part of a 16:9 picture to "convert" it to a 4:3 one.
Pan & Scan: Zoom in a 16:9 picture to fit the whole height in a 4:3 screen, and of course you lose some left & right parts of picture.
Just Scale: Resizes 16:9 picture to fit 4:3 screen, so picture loses its aspect ratio.
16:9 TV and 4:3 video signal
Pan&Scan, (you're right. it should be called another way, like f.i. "Zoom"): The 4:3 picture is zoomed in to fit the whole widht in a 16:9 screen, and of course you lose some top & bottom parts of picture.
Pillarbox: Inserts black bars at the left & right part of a 4:3 picture to "convert" it to a 16:9 one.
Just Scale: Resizes picture to fit screen, it loses aspect ratio.
That's the theorical behaviour of set top boxes.
The problem comes when Pillarbox and Pan&Scan (Zoom) are exchanged in Display 4:3 content as.... settings,

Known issue, need a patch for vtuner #define's.
Could anybody please do it ?
Thanks.
