If you want to flash via USB you need the usb_update.bin. If you want to flash via e2 (ofgwrite), you only need the rootfs.tar.bz2 and kernel.bin (which are included in the so called “multiboot” zip file.

Is there any way to convert kernel+rootfs to usb_update.bin ?

I ask it because if you do a backup of your current image (backupsuite) it gives you kernel+rootfs files, and then you have to restore it inside a running enigma2 image, you can't do it in usb way because you have no usb_update.bin file.

Yes, correct. And no, there is no easy way to create such usb_update.bin.

I supose that the easiest way of having a real backup on a usb-update.bin file, instead of trying to convert from kernel+rootfs, would be that backupsuite generated that file too.

Rootfs.tar.bz2 and kernel.bin is still a real backup. You only need some minutes more time to install it, if your box don’t boot any more. If it boots, just flash backup via backup suite.

Yes, of course, but I don't understand why this receiver has this booting system.

The old SF4008, and other boxes like xtrend I've had, just needed kernel & rootfs files to boot from USB.

......... and to flash online that is still typically true, but most of these hisilicon receivers (some with android  history) require a more complicated usb flash —- of course zgemma in their wisdom enhanced this  with their  advanced recovery system

Hi

openpli-7.2-release-sf8008-20200330 :

Simultaneous receiving channel on STB and streaming another channel causes restarting e2 gui (on oATV is ok)

Thanks and Greetings

sf8008 is such a wonderful piece after diping deeply into it :)

Do you speak about restreaming? I just checked, you can stream and watch at the same time, it can do more than one stream and actually can be used at the same time by multiple users, meaning that you could as example use X receiver devices (lets pretend it is kodi, for now it does not work, will test other ip clients soon). Here a screenshot of vlc and browser running two different channels.

screenshots not allowed, editing not possible, I guess I will stay out of posting, especially as this forum software already wasted my time, as example by not telling that the screenshot can not be used, despite showing it.

However, was nice to see same people around after 10 years, see you around.

For multiboot sf8008 Please be patience.... openatv is changing system then we have it soon aswell.... and from then no sd card required.
Once done we can consider to develop an expend multiboot to sd/hdd/usb plugin (in a general way)... but I also think having 3 or 4 slots should be sufficiant. As they way we now made multiboot experts already can expend.

Adding screenshots not allowed on our board. What a nonsense. In case you aren’t aware how, you can always ask how.

Oh your God :), so terrible, isn't it? Another dumb user :). Sometimes it can be flipped. You blame me for not reading board rules each time I sign in? How much were changed in last 15 years?

Adding screenshots not allowed on our board.

Does the Editor tell it to the user? You do not allow screenshots to be pasted/upload (I pasted), but then you complain to me about your team not configuring it properly?

OMG! Couldn't you configure your board software properly? Or do you think it does not mislead when you see in Editor upload screenshot? Lazy devs could add a warning at least, but really lazy do not do anything and blame then their users. OMG! That's again the case, right?

I think this is not the way we should talk to each other, board software wasted my time and after reporting it, you blame me as stupid user, I did not write OMG! Devs is it so hard? Did I? You can take it, explain limits and maybe say thanks for informing.

It isn’t that hard.

I guess it isn't that hard to configure your board properly. Is it hard? I guess you will not reply now it isn't that hard, instead you might reply, it is fixed or will never be, right? Maybe thanks for pointing it out would be appropriate too if you already want to be official. But I think you will again a reason to blame the user.

Show me please where you explained it? Is it that hard?

I compiled on debian buster directly from git and included all plugins (with enigma2 plugin) into the build, there was a little bit of everything, here as example like DoWork errors:

ERROR: DoWork - Direct texture file loading failed for resource: ...

On enigma2 plugin there is nothing to be patched/changed as well as there is nothing special to be done for openpli to get it work, openpli works perfectly with enigma2 plugin, will have to compile it for sf8008 to try the plugin on sf8008's kodi, I could not find anybody confirming it works on sf8008, however, I confirm it works without issues with all available OpenPLi images, PVR, recording etc.., everything works. Wife happy, me back to my work, stay healthy ;). Oh yes, I clearly feel the difference in 1Gb interface compared to most receivers with 100mb connection.

Thanks again for the image for sf8008, on my side everything works perfectly, I did not experience any bugs and kodi issue is resolved.

Oh your God :), so terrible, isn't it? Another dumb user :). Sometimes it can be flipped. You blame me for not reading board rules each time I sign in? How much were changed in last 15 years?

Gentlemen, please.

Yes, you can add screenshots. No, you can not add them using copy/paste (even though that works), you need to add them as an attachment.

@Frenske, Please try not to make assumptions into what you read but what is not written. English isn't native for a lot of us.

Now you make assumptions here, and like my previous remark, you also shouldn't do without knowing the context.

The forum software simply doesn't support it. Not disabling in the javascript editor, not extracting it and saving from from the posted data to an external file. It simply isn't there.
This is commercial forum software, so you can argue about lazy devs all you want, not something we can do a lot about.

There is a newer version available, but since it requires a massive conversion, we've been puting that off due to the time needed (and no one with that time available) and the forum downtime needed. It also need time to create a new skin (not compatible) and convert all plugins written years ago, by someone no longer a team member...

edit:

I've done a quick test on the support forum of the vendor, and the latest version seems to have auto-conversion from a pasted to an attached image.
So I guess we need to find the time for this some day...

@WanWizard

I guess you got the sarcasm in my reply to Frenske, as well as I already did agree on what you say about assumptions, just reading following sentence should be enough (at least I assume):

I think this is not the way we should talk to each other, board software wasted my time and after reporting it, you blame me as stupid user, I did not write OMG! Devs is it so hard? Did I? You can take it, explain limits and maybe say thanks for informing.

And no, it is not the way we should talk to each other, maybe your rephrasing with assumptions is better, I can't judge.

This is commercial forum software, so you can argue about lazy devs all you want, not something we can do a lot about.

We seem to talk to each other, but our interpretation seems to be very different. Is this commercial forum software developed by developers? If yes, I guess then those devs are in question, not your team, your team is then simply a user according to your words. Well, by that it means your commercial product has features and some might be payable, some might be already included. However, I would love you to show me your contract with your commercial software provider which restricts you in customizing your product. I guess you are allowed to do that unless I see explicitly that it is forbidden.

As we are already about discussion of this forum, I see that security is also not highest rated for your commercial software provider nor for the client using it. It might be by not knowing, after this post you probably know. There are a lot free, non free, onion and i2p pages where you can get quite a lot password lists. Now if you scan this forums users and emails, you will recognise fast that there are some for which passwords leaked already in 2016 :D, maybe you should ask your commercial software provider if it offers some addon for you to periodically test it and maybe warn your users. Sure, you can always claim that users losing control of their account, it is their fault. But if you claim it, I would disagree, since 2017 it should be a standard to use 2FA and it should be enforced too. However, I also agree it is not of a big interest for your new users or guests to gain such access, especially as this tech is declining (sadly, I loved SAT scene up to 2008, then it got really ugly, only kept watching pli and all this oe-alliance, well nice goal, but somehow it could be better like everything).

Enough of offtopic I guess. @WanWizzard, I read that you have difficulties playing 4k and indeed there is some optimization possible, I did some for my compiled image, however, I just tested your original image without any changes, and well, I do it over internet, 4K stream streams just fine, here I recorded with vlc 1 minute for you, guess it's enough. 4K streaming works perfectly even over LTE for me, for current test I was connected over TorGuard's 10Gbit VPN and even then streaming of 4k works perfectly for me. If you get issues, you probably should check your network, or raise buffer/cache size etc... . For people using Enigma Plugin activating timeshift really helps a lot, especially on misconfigured oscam and similar, as stream on encrypted channels might break from time to time if emulator has any issues or isn't configured properly, FTA channels have no issues at all. Not sure what else could help you if those things dont.

Video 1Min, Astra UHD Demo 31.5 (I choose 31.5 as I read somewhere that 31.5 isn't working :), not sure if it was here on this forum): https://anonfile.com...ra_UHD_Demo-_ts

That's raw stream (not encoded), I tried encoding too, just did not record for now, used 720p with 30fps and 1,5m bitrate, works fine too.

Additionaly as I pack it all in one place, I read that translations by users are somewhere in the wild. Please, as OE-Alliance, but might be started by OpenPli :), please check out transifex, if you are open source (which you are), then just register, there you will be able to point to your project and license will be checked directly from your github (in case you import from github).

If you are not familiar with transifex, then you probably should take a look at it, we use it a lot in almost all projects and it lets everybody easily translate but the best it, nothing gets ever lost.

Additional info I did not write, I use sf8008 combo, and my enigma plugin tests were done remotly, not in intranet, just to confirm that it works for those who need/want to stream from home.

If you want to improve streaming and in general performance, you might want to look at the gpu and video decoder optimization as far as possible.

Ok, before continuing this thread as monologue, I will stop here, few parts dont belong here but somehow it got connected by discussion, sorry for a little off-topic in current post, but yeah, take security measures seriously please

I'm not saying that, I've been a PHP developer for over 20 years. But it is quite a job, with lots of time needed, on software that is end of life.

I don't have that time, I don't have the health to undertake such a job, so if you will this issue is so important, then by all means, be my guest ;). But I'd rather would like you to spend that time on the upgrade,
