I have downloaded some MKV files but there is no sound on my HD51. Of course, there is sound on my computer.

Is this perhaps due to 6 channel audio?

No support for DTS tracks perhaps?

Downmix on or off? Try off if your AV receiver or TV supports DTS.

I have no support for DTS and so downmix is always on.

Audio from this movie, however, plays fine:

I think vendor needs DTS license for downmix. And most probably they don’t want to pay for it.

Your 2. sample has only 2 channel audio. Maybe that is the difference.

Hi,

If so, does the file need conversion / re-encoding?

If so, what is a simple tool to do that?

try to demux the file with mkv extract from MKV ToolNix (better you use a gui for it as example gMKVExtractGUI);

https://mkvtoolnix.download/

https://sourceforge....gmkvextractgui/

then you can convert the dts audio to ac3 audio with XMedia Recode;

https://www.xmedia-recode.de/

and as last mux the video with the new ac3 audio with MKV ToolNix (MKVToolNix GUI)

this complete job needs only  a few minutes.

Yes, I noticed that too.

Pike_Bishop, OK, I will try to use it unless there is a quicker way to change 5.1 to L/R only.

you can leave it on channel 5.1 if you convert it to ac3 audio, the box can play it.
