What is the usefulness of vlc inside Pli-images for DB 7025+ ??

I saw VLC player inside my DB 7025+ and I am using Pli-images latest version. I saw it when I click MENU-->PLUGINS---->DOWNLOAD PLUGIN (green button)----->EXTENSIONS---->VLC.
