When I bought second VU+ Ultimo 4K I was lazy to start new system on it and I simply flashed image from former box because hw configuration is identical. Of course I had to change something (ip, configs, etc). It seems to me that from that time update server recognizes both boxes as one and I can do update only in one box. Where and what I have to change the server can distiguish these boxes as separate ones? Thanks in advance for advice.

Impossible.

Version control is done on the box, using the installed package list and the available package list. There is no update server, there is only a webserver serving files, without any logic whatsoever.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Hmm, have you changed the hostname on the second VU+ Ultimo 4K? Same hostname on both devices won't work...
Met één been in het graf..... Helaas

That works fine, the only issue you will have is that in DDNS, one of them will get a suffix due to the name collision. Otherwise, the name of the box isn't using anywhere.

Boxes are on the same lan and they surely have different ip addresses.

@WanWizard

I'll try to describe behaviour of boxes. Let's say one week I do update on one box. If I go to another box and I try to do update I see nothing what could be updated. It looks like update was already done. Next week I start updating with second box and I see only new updates, not from previous week. Another box shows nothing for update then. In fact I can have all updates completaly in one box when I always use the same one but nothing in another one. I cannot understand this. It is impossible that they communicate one to another and that they share information of updates. My idea was that somewhere it is remembered which updates were done.

I run OpenPLI 7.2 on both machines. Several years I use two boxes with the same version of OpenPLI in my home but I never observed such a strange behaviour. I can flash both boxes from scratch that I can probably get rid of this malfunction but I hope that simpler solution could exist to avoid this.

There is nothing that remembers anything. The download mirrors are plain http fileservers, without any logic.

An update is done in two steps, and you can do them from the commandline if you want to see it in action:

  1. "opkg update"

    This will download the current package index files of all feeds onto the box, so the box knows what is available, and which versions.

  2. "opkg upgrade"

    This will check the list of installed packages against the list of available packages, and will download and install any available package that has a newer version.

So I suggest you run these commands on the commandline, and check the output.
