Hi,

I wanted to backup my Pli-Jade image from my Diskless DM600 to a remote mount point.
My search lead me to a plugin that backup an image to either Harddisk, Compact Falsh (CF) or USB stick!
the plugin is a file called "image7020_600.tar.gz" that you can search for in the net and manually install using the Dreambox Settings -> Software Management -> Manual install

The PPanel created after install allows for the following options:
- Backup to HDD
- Backup to CF
- Backup to USB

I cannot use any of the above because I have neither!
Since I had my PC harddisk mounted for recordings on /media/server1, I tried the following:

root@dm600pvr / # /usr/bin/build-nfi-image.sh /media/server1/
dm600pvr found
***
download secondstage-dm600pvr-53.bin
create boot.jffs2
create root.jffs2
create secondstage
create dm600pvr nfi-image
nfi-image create on /media/server1//backup_image_dm600pvr20081003.nfi
***
root@dm600pvr / # l /media/server1/backup_image_dm600pvr20081003.nfi
-rwxrw-rw- 1 nobody nogroup 24452272 Oct 3 18:09 /media/server1/backup_image_dm600pvr20081003.nfi*
root@dm600pvr / #

So now I have the image backed up where I want.

Hope this instruction would help some of you.

Thanks

But that's already in the image (backup/restore menu). It allows you to backup to harddisk, cf or usb and all the network mounts you've created.
Many answers to your question can be found in our wiki: http://openpli.org/wiki

Really?
Where, I still can't find it!!!

If you mean the Backup/Restore function found under the System Setting menu, I tried that, but that only copies the settings and some directory structure, It does not create a complete restorable image nfi file!

That's right.. I didn't read well and see now it's about an nfi image.
