Why normal dB indication with Vu+Duo2 and still % only (no dB) with Vu+Duo4K ?

There is not a "normal" dB indication neither on Vu Duo2 or any other Vu+ receivers. It's been said for long, Vu+ does not and will not support native db indications in any of their STBs. Their drivers, even if the tuner supports native db return a value between 0 and 65536, which means a meaningless percentage.

Any Vu+ receiver you see with dB is only a rough calculation done by the E2 teams just because users want it, but it's all fake. The max signal stops at 16.2 or 17db or even less in some cases, and that is because the calculation is done approximately and not by the correct tuner drivers.

So any users having Vu+ simply fool themselves thinking the signal indications are even close to real. In my opinion the developers should have never bothered with Vu+'s idiotic decisions not to support correct signal indications.

In short, if you need somehow reliable signal indications DO NOT buy a Vu+ receiver. Plain and simple!!!

My sentiments exactly. Either show the correct information, or show nothing at all...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Sorry Wanwizard, you as an OpenPli developer do not go along with such sentiments either if the signal strength cannot be the exact or reliable value (in dB) than the function / display but omit within Openpli.

I am slightly different, I prefer to look at the relative differences in dB of the various channels / satellites with my Vu + Duo2 in dB, but at the same time conclude that with a Vu + Duo4K the same function is "omitted" even though you are in the menu can choose between dB or %.
