If the currently tuned channel is a multistream with 8PSK modulation, attempting to switch to a normal (non multistream) channel with QPSK modulation systematically fails (black screen, no sound).

Switching first to a normal channel with 8PSK modulation works ok; and afterwards, channel switching works corectly again -- until the next attempt to go from (multistream, 8PSK) to (normal, QPSK).

I'm using the "Vuplus DVB-S NIM(45308X FBC) (DVB-S2X)" tuner.

Does anybody have any comments or, even better, a solution?

Thank you.

Do you happen to use LCD4LINUX? If yes, uninstall this temporarily just for testing purposes.

I have no access to multistream channels (afaik), so I can't test.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

I don’t owe a Duo 4K so I can’t test either to determine whether it might be a Vu+ Duo4K issue.

I have a Duo 4K with the same tuner as you mentioned and I don't experience this problem myself.

I have tested between the french channels on 5°W and channels on Astra 19.2E.

The only problem that I have is the PiP (Picture-In-Picture) that is not working between 2 MIS channels except for a few ones. The PiP screen remains grey.

Interesting.

I don't seem to have your PiP problem; it works by me.  If you have the disponibility, we could try to further pinpoint the circumstances of the bug(s).

My original report was based on (MIS) Italian channels on 5°W and English ones on 28.2°E.  I can also access 19.2°E.  The only limitation is that all channels have to be FTA.  So, if you give me a FTA MIS 8PSK channel on 5°W and a FTA, non-MIS, QPSK on 19.2° E that you can switch between, I can see what happens with them in my box.

My OpenPLi version is OpenPLi 7.2-release (2020-03-21-release-7.2), in case it matters.

Than you.

@Pr2:

After some more tests, I realized I do have your PiP problem, too.  But I think it is, actually, the same tuning problem I first reported.  The tuner seems unable to directly switch between 2 channels, one (MIS, 8PSK), the other (normal, QPSK).

I'm not exactly sure how this influences the PiP, but the channels that cannot be paired in PiP are the same as the channels that cannot be directly switched between (if that makes sense).

It's a pity, as I think this must have a software solution.  (Whatever state change I induce in the tuner when I go (MIS, 8PSK) -> (normal, 8PSK) -> (normal QPSK) can very probably be done via some driver manipulations.)

Maybe someone more knowledgeable (than me) steps in...

Except that my PiP problem is only when I have both french MIS channels on the main screen (for exemple M6) and I want to display another MIS channel in PiP (TF1).

The funny thing is that it works for some of them (TV is busy now so I cannot test) but if I remember well it works if I put France 5 (MIS version) in the PiP window.

I have no clue where my problem came from, driver, DiseqC, ...

You are totally right there is a bug when switching from MIS 8PSK to QPSK.

The problem was to find a FTA QPSK to test.

So here is how I reproduce your problem.

I scan on Hotbird 13.0E

DVB-S 12597 V 27500 3/4 QPSK

There I choose the channel:  RT Doc

I have sound and image, then I zap to:

Atlantic Bird 3:

DVB-S2 11508 H 29500 8/9 8PSK Gold 50416

Channel: M6

I press 0 to return to RT Doc

No sound no audio

And after a while we have:  No data on transponder! (Delay expired when reading PAT)

But the funny part is that if I press twice blue to enable PiP, in the PiP window RT Doc is playing fine (of course no sound).

So main screen RT Doc is not working but the same channel in PiP is working.

And as you mentioned zapping to any standard 8PSK channel then back to RT Doc I have the image and sound.

Is this specific for the Duo 4K, or can it reproduced on other boxes (i.e. is it a driver issue or an E2 issue)?

I suppose that's because the PiP uses ANOTHER tuner.  The problem occurs when the SAME tuner attempts to switch from (MIS, 8PSK) to (normal , QPSK)

I experienced similar problem using signal finder, If I didn´t have a lock on a transponder the tuners were just gone, both Sat and T2, if I then switch to a stream and back they are back again, PLi 7.2, could be an E2 problem (well, not a big problem)

Not a big problem: except if you are unlucky and schedule a recording that will perform this kind of channel switching. ;-) When zapping indeed you know there is a bug you zap to another channel and came back and it works.

No I am on RT Doc black screen I press blue twice and I have the image on the PiP Windows using the same tuner: A.

Meaning that the tuner is locked and properly able to display the image.

It is perhaps a problem on the audio/video sync since it cannot sync audio/video it doesn't display the image on the main screen, and since on PiP there is no sound it is displayed (but I perhaps wrote something totally stupid).  ;)
