On  my Vu+ Zero and Vu+ Duo2 receivers (both with OpenPli images) the BER (Bit Error Rate) values are 0 on all channels. The SNR and AGC values are displayed correctly.

Is there any configuration setting on the Open Pli image to activate the BER calculation and display the BER value?

The BER value is displayed, it is 0, appearently.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

When the ber is 0 this means it is excellent!!!!

BER stands for B it E rror R ate. It is supposed to be 0! If it's not, the dish may be ill-alligned, LNB bad or the signal is simply too weak...

Hi,

BER is on most STBs nowadays not correctly supported and reported as 0. On my good old E1 STBs I often used it to optimize reception but now it mostly useless. You can see it the best with DVB-C as BER there is hardly 0 at all.

Even on the channels having artifacts because of low signal, where the SNR is below 40%, BER is still 0.

That is also my opinion. With some older receiver, I remember having BER values different of 0 when tuning my satellite dish.

Which would be then the best method to optimize the reception without having the BER, the maximization of the SNR value?

I wanted to use the Vu+ display to optimize my satellite dish reception.

I wanted to use the Vu+ display to optimize my satellite dish reception.

The only valid value is SNR, and that is only valid for tuning the receiver, not for comparisons between receivers

Gigablue Quad 4K & UE 4K
.........FBC Tuners:
------------------> DUR-Line DCR 5-1-8-L4 Multiswitch to 1.5M dish(28.2E)
------------------> Spaun SUS 5581/33 NFA Multiswitch to 80 cm dish(19.2E)
.........DVB-S2X into 90cm dish (27.5W)

Octagon sf8008, AX HD61, Edision Osmio 4K+, Zgemma H9Combo using Legacy ports on multiswitches
Zgemma H9twin & Zgemma H9 C/S mode into Giga4K

Thank you for the information. I just want to replace some LNBs on my satellite dish and need some tool for fine-tuning to get the best reception with the new LNBs. I dont need a comparison between receivers.

There are numerous apps on Android and Apple IOS that can be used to help you align the dish, set elevation and skew and lastly show the SNR so that you can fine tune (e.g. satfinder, dishpointer)

Thanks. I installed the Enigma Signal Meter. I will optimize by using the SNR value.
