I tried to search here, but I can't get any clear answers. As i have OpenPli 7.2 on my receiver, can I try multiboot? What's needed if so?

VU+ doesn't support true multiboot (it needs bootloader support).
There is hack called OpenMultiboot, but as I have never used it, I can't comment. Don't even know if it works on a VU+.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Installed OpenMultiboot from feed now. Formating Memorystick now... (Takes forever...). Is it just plug and play forward?

After 10 mins of formatting I gave up and found a smaller (16 GB) pen. It's now gone 25 mins, and still 'Please wait while format is in progress...'

I've just checked with new flash drive, and indeed something is broken while trying to format the USB flash via the OpenMultiboot plugin. It's causing infinite spinner and the only whay to make the box operational again is to restart it from the back switch. You can format the new USB flash drive in your box using the OpenPLi HDD menu which works fine and takes few seconds depends on the size. After that you can start using the OpenMultiboot plugin.

Worked! So now I copy the images I want to try on the pen and install it from it?

I only get errors. As the pen is not formatted as ext4 I guess. I have tried image in open-multboot-upload, with all 2 directories I get when unraring, with one directory and files only, but no luck.

Learned something new... Not unrar/unzip image when installing this... But, another image installed without errors, saying yes, next boot with the other image, but it boots with the old image.

Check if the multiboot is enabled in the plugin. From the openmultiboot menu press 4 button as far as I remember. I'm not with the receiver right now. Will check tomorrow.
I deleted it.

In case you want to try again here are the steps:
- format your USB stick via OpenPLi's Harddisk menu (Initialization)
- open the Openmultiboot menu and select to install openmultiboot on your external storage which you just formated (media/usb)
- connect with your ftp client to your receiver and go to /media/usb/open-multiboot-upload folder, where you have to put your new zipped image
- on your receiver if you are still with the openmultiboot screen, press the green button(install) and you'll see the uploaded image there.Just press the green button one more time and then select Standard install, after that installation will start(it takes about 35s on slow usb stick)
- on the next screen you'll see Flash image, and the image you just installed. Check on the same screen if the OMB is disabled or enabled. If it's disabled, press the blue button which opens the menu, and then press "4".
- lastly select your new image and press OK
You have to confirm twice "Yes", then the receiver will reboot, and again after the initial welcome screen, you 'll see the startup OpenMultiboot screen with the installed images where you can select again the desired image to boot.
It isn't rocket sciance, and takes just few minutes to setup and install all you need. I'm using only OpenPLi in the flash with no issues so far. The OpenMultiboot images on USB stick are just for testing purposes. The only issue appeared to be the format option in the OpenMultiboot plugin.

multiboot and openmultiboot allow people to test/experiment. Biggest downside is that timers are not on shared medium.

Why MultiBoot on this beautiful machine? Use a single image and benefit from it's large memory.....
I don't need 'a large memory' or anything. I use my receiver only to watch TV, nothing else. I don't have a lot of add-ons or anything. I have picons, that's all.
I would like to see how other images are. I have had MANY Linux-receivers and used other images from time to time, but always came back to OpenPli. But, I would like to see how other images are now. I don't care about anything else that the menues are 'easy' for my use (and a stable image). EG, I go through EPG twice a week. On other images I remember I had to press buttons several times more to do what I do on OpenPli. I wish every team made a video of the menues.

If someone with a Ultimo 4K, with any image on the pen in openmultiboot (also the image on the flhash is indifferent), can do a little test, thanks:
When the box starts from the image on the pen, try to connect via wifi using the internal device.
