It's NOT a multimedia device!! It's merely an STB.. Everything else is 'extra'

My only regrets is that they drop support for some codecs that the SoC can support.

They didn't drop it, the Broadcom SDK dropped it.

So if as a manufacturer you want or need to upgrade your driver development environment, you don't have a choice.

I have more of an issue with manufacturers that don't support SoC features because they didn't want to pay the license...

Broadcom has decided to drop the consumer market, and focus on the professional / provider market. Which is one of the reasons you see the switch of many vendors to HiSilicon. And HiSilicon decodes in (hardware accellerated) software using ffmpeg, so it should be able to be a lot more flexible when it comes to codec support...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Sure its extra. More extra the better ;)

I am quite satisfied with multimedia support of newer codecs (h264, h265). There are some problems, especially with skipping which sometimes causes problems with spinner and nonresponsivness for a few seconds, but its not that often.

spinners are an software issue, not a hardware or driver issue.

Enigma is not multi-threaded / event driven, it uses a process loop that processes tasks serially. If one task doesn't return control in time (i.e. it blocks or runs too long), the spinner is displayed.
