Hi openPLI Team,

Thanks for ALL your Hard work in providing us with your Great Images.

I have just a simple Question.

I am looking for the Latest release for the Amiko Viper 4K.

I found the Amiko Viper ComboHDD v.7.3 Stable and Amiko ViperCombo v.7.3 Stable.

What is the difference here for the two Images?

Which one is the correct Image for Amiko Viper4K

As far as I can tell there are three Amiko with similar names.

Can you PLEASE differentiate between the Boxes.

It would NOT be very nice for Users to Flash wrong Image to wrong Box.

Also is the downloaded ZIP file copied complete to USB stick or unzipped and the Four files

go to USB Stick?

Thanks

AJP

This is the Amiko 4K Combo: https://www.amikostb...uct/355-viper4k

And this the 4K Combo HDD: https://www.amikostb...viper-combo-hdd

So dispite the name, totally different box. Don't blame us, we didn't come up with these names... ;)

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Wan Wizard,

Thanks Big Time for speedy reply.

I DO NOT blame you Guys at ALL, :)

I have been following your thread in the Wings, about ALL the problems with some

of these Box Manufacturers and can really imagine HOW frustrating that must be,

They ask you for an Image and DON'T provide ALL relevant information.

YES, Amiko have really made it difficult to keep a track of the Receiver Names.

Totally mind boggling.

Thanks again to the whole TEAM for the Images and ALL your Hardwork

AJP

No, there is no OpenPLi image for the Viper 4K. The vendor hasn't added it to the BSP (yet).

Board Support Package, the build layer that is supplied by the vendor and contains the drivers, the linux kernel, the kernel config, etc.

Is there a way to request the BSP from the manufacturer? I would be very happy if there was OpenPli on Viper4k.

The last time we had contact with the Dutch distributor of Amiko, we asked about it. We never even had a response. I don't know who the brand owner is, I assume it is not the Dutch distributor...

No, if a manufacturer wants an OpenPLi image, they can ask. We're not going to beg for it, we're not in the business of propping up their bottom line...

When there is an official openpli image, for a receiver, it is listed between the downloads. When it is not listed then there is no official openpli image for it. It's that simple to check.

I managed to get in touch with someone who is in direct contact with the Chinese devs for these boxes. He said they never replied, so don't expect BSP to be released like... ever. Thus, there won't be any openpli images available for newer Amiko boxes. This includes all 4k models, which seem to be changing more frequenty than I change my underwear. Remember the V20? It's all gone and now there is V30.

I'm sorry to say but if you're looking for an openpli compatible box from Amiko, look somewhere else.
