AFAIK the webkit application works fine on my Uno 4Kse. If it crashes you might have a crashlog which you can add as an attachment.

Something triggered by recent skin work (and maybe already solved in develop)?
@Frenske, maybe give Ian a ping?
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Every vendor has its own solution, so it is pointless making generic statement about "the HbbTV browser". Likewise, for issues we need to know the vendor.

We've already established the crashlog posted is caused by een issue in the startup plugin, in turn (most likely) caused by the changes in the skin system.
So I don't know what added value your response has?

No need IMHO to ping Iansav as I tested the Uno 4K which worked too on several German channels. Logically I tested with a Release 7.3 of July 27. So I have no clue what goes wrong on his Uno 4K. I tested the Uno 4Kse earlier which worked too.
On my Ultimo4K I can confirm that HBBTV doesn’t work for a long time. FYI, I use a BT RC which might influence the use of the Webkit. I removed the webkit months ago.

Sorry, but am I missing something here? Because just two days ago I asked if HbbTV could be made available for Octagon SF8008 like in OpenATV, and this was the answer I got:
https://forums.openp...dpost&p=1240402
Is this some sort of "Yes for Vu+, no for Octagon" situation?

No, VU+ supplies a HbbTV solution for its boxes, Octagon does not.

Ah, ok. Thanks for clarification.
Apparently that solution works for Octagon as well, but you say it's wrong, because it doesn't come from the vendor - I respect that, and think it's one of the many reasons for going back to Vu+.

The VU+ implementation isn't without its issues too.
HbbTV is implemented by using a standard web browser engine (either webkit, chromium or Opera), to which a HbbTV Javascript application is added (this is the closed source bit, it is purchased under license by the vendor) and a library that allows interfacing with Enigma (to define and locate the video area, pass stream information and key presses, etc).
The problem is that the HbbTV standard evolves, and no application is bug free, so the vendor should keep their HbbTV application component up to date. And not a single vendor does that, they implement, put the HbbTV logo on the packaging, and forget about it.
This means that as providers start to implement new features, the HbbTV implementation starts to fail.
Second problem is that Enigma also evolves, which means the interface component has to evolve with it, and this also doesn't happen.
In the end, all vendors are there to make money, and they'll probably laugh the dick out of their pants that some open source geeks keep making sure it all works, for absolutely no cost to them...

I know, I find the Dutch saying more "expressive"...
As I wrote in another thread, it is not a problem to make it work properly, and on every box. Webkit is Open Source, Enigma is Open Source, and Samsung as open sourced their HbbTV app. All that is missing is a developer willing to take this on.
As to the vendors, I don't know what the status is HbbTV of VU+' own image, I guess that is the only thing they're interested in. And most other vendors don't even have an image, they put ATV on it.

It stands on this bar and you have to restart the tuner with the switch, otherwise it will not respond to the remote control. You can only make it louder and quieter, but it doesn't show the volume bar then.
If you enable the Universal RCU capability of your VU+ RCU the Vol+/Vol- are no longer send to the STB but directly to the TV.
That's why you can increase/decrease the volume from the VU+ RCU, it is handled by your TV and not your VU+.
NO SUPPORT by PM, it is a forum make your question public so everybody can benefit from the question/answer.
