I've got this project posted on PLI Wiki working well on my DM500. The only issue I've had is with the 'show recordings' option in the interface. It comes up showing the ROOT filesystem of the DM500 but when I browse to the /media/hdd folder it shows 'none'.

However, when I browse using the PLI Web interface or using the remote control it shows all the recordings under that mount point. Does anyone know how to get the recordings to show up using this project? Does the 'show recordings' option work on a DM500 with this project? Thank you for any assistance.

If you set up your mount as shown in the wikipedia here >> E1Mount << it works fine and a screenshot is shown below on a DM500.

Thank you for your assistance. I have setup 3 separate CIFS mounts. 2 pointing to a FreeNAS server and 1 pointing to a Vista computer. First one uses /media/hdd other uses /media/server1 and third one uses /media/server2.

All 3 as you can see by the osd.jpg attachment have mounted successfully. The Vista share has many mpg's and is seen by the DM500 when in File mode using the remote control. However when I go into 'show recordings' in the restream web interface and browse to the /media/server2 folder it still shows none as per the attachment.

The restream server is running on a vista computer if that helps with the troubleshooting. Thank you

I can not help much here as you really need to address these issues with the author of the software on his web site. But my observations re this issue are;

1. The software is programmed to show the hdd or mounted device on first box set up in settings.php only
2. It only shows the default of the DM boxes webif zap root so if your webif zap root does not show your mount then change/use the default of /media/hdd
3. Only sees file extensions with the following names of .ts .mp2 and .mp3 (none of your files show this in the screen dumps - try renaming one as a test)

Sorry can not help much more here .

I was just showing you how it works on the restream software I usenormally on 2 DM7020 and 1 DM500. I set it up on a DM500 with theshare to /media/hdd to show it works as it should, and I was notproviding support for his software (I do apologise I should have saidthis at the time).

If you have any direct questions about restream you should take it up with m4rtin the author.

I completely understand and I appreciate your response. You've been very helpful as have others at PLI. I wish I could talk to the author but his forum only allows Dutch users. I'm kind of stuck but I'll make my way through it :)

I have one more question re: #2 you posted above

2. It only shows the default of the DM boxes webif zap root so if your webif zap root does not show your mount then change/use the default of /media/hdd

Could you tell me how to do this. I'm not quite sure I understand the procedure. Thank you again.

Ahhhh.... I got it now. Sometimes I make things too difficult. LOL

I can see right away with your response in #1 and #2 where I was going wrong. I was using the second box in my list which is downstairs which will never work according to #2...I'll change the order of boxes in my settings.php file so that it's the first box. I'll also make sure that I've zapped to the correct mount location in the web interface BEFORE selecting the 'show recordings' option in restream. AND I'll also make sure I have at least one file named with a .mp3 extension.

Once again thank you for your assistance. Enjoying the PLI experience very much :)

Sorry Jonc...one final question. I find the movie and then highlight. I hit play in the screen and then it takes me to a new browser window showing the various settings. However the movie never starts. Is there a process to get the movies in the recordings screen to start playing. It streams TV ok but nothing happens with the movies when I hit play. thank you again. :)

Simply highlight the file name and press play. If it is in the proper .ts or mp2 format it will play in the web screen. Sound to me like you pressed go (do not do that)

Thanx Jonc. I have been pressing play and all it does is refresh the web interface as demonstrated by the 3rd image. It gives a path to VLC and some transcoding values but nothing happens. If I hit the back button in firefox, it takes me back to the original re-stream interface. I then hit go beside the word HTTP to see what happens but nothing plays. I hit debug and it shows the entry for the movie I want to play but still nothing happens. I believe I'm doing it correctly since hitting play after highlighting the movie should keep the restream interface in place and just start to play the video. I beginning to wonder if it's a combo of the VLC version and Firefox that's causing this issue.

I'm using Firefox 3.03 and VLC 0.86i. Perhaps you could give me your versions that you use to make it work correctly and I'll try to test in a vm session. Again I do appreciate your input. I'm 90% there. Perhaps when I'm done I can add my experiences to the wiki?:)Thank you

The same as you on a Vista box to view it and linux box to run it (I see you are running windows).

Sorry I really can not do much more here to help you, as mine works just fine.

As to wiki - personally I think you should really get all this posted on the authors web site so others can benefit from your experiences. We are not the defacto support site for him (as restream should work on all software from all image makers), nor do we have the experience to assist everyone.

I just happen to have fallen in love with restream and it does the job I need it for.

Thank you I understand. Never really considered PLI as the support for this product. I was just looking for guidance from someone who may have used the product. Without being able to communicate in Dutch nothing gets posted on his site. However, restream overall works good enough for me.

Thank you again for taking the time to help out. Cheers.

Well, after many hours of testing after work, I was finally able to get the recorded movies to play. I'd like to say thank you to Jonc for guiding me in my quest here. I knew if he had it working, there was something I missed. Here's the answer for others that may run into the same issue.

1. Movie files must NOT have any SPACES in the filename. Look carefully because when there appears to be no spaces between a number and a letter, one usually exists. This was the killer for me and I confirmed this many times over with other files.

2. The web interface zap root does not have to be showing the root of the recorded file system before it works. Restream will start the recordings without this step.

Good luck everyone and try this project. Works great with PLI Jade. :)
