Why is it that OpenPLi (version 7.3 - 2020-08-29) gives "openvix" from boxbranding.getImageDistro() ?

boxbranding.getOEVersion() is giving "OE-Alliance 4.3".

Somehow the GUI information (from main menu -> Information -> Information) is giving correct information, but the boxbranding is giving wrong information.

That seems to originate from /usr/lib/enigma2/python/boxbranding.so which contains that "openvix" and also openvix web address (inspected by strings).

OpenPli does not have oe-a’s boxbranding modules.... so it cannot give any info at all../.

The box branding you will find in PLI images is defined here:

https://github.com/O...xbranding.patch

It will only be added if you install a few plugins, crossepg downloader being one of them.

That is just an emulator for a few plugins that won't start without it, OpenPLi itself doesn't use it.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

I don't have crossepg downloader, and actually opkg doesn't show which package would own the file, so it's a small mystery who owns it:

root@vuultimo4k:~# opkg search /usr/lib/enigma2/python/boxbranding.so

root@vuultimo4k:~#

What would be the correct way to identify that Plugin is running in OpenPLi?
I would need that information because EPG encoding seems to be different in OpenPLi that it was with OpenViX for example.

There is a discssion going about introducing a common abstraction layer in all images, exactly because of questions like this. But it doesn't seem to go anywhere...

If the .so file was added, it must have been copied there. PLI do not use boxbranding.so Just delete it or flash PLI again.
