Every morning at 6.30 a.m., epg import automatically fetches the EPG from a Rytec.xml.
It also works great for 2 days.
Then, when I want to watch TV, I take the receiver out of standby, I have a black screen, regardless of whether it is free or private channels.
If I click OK, I see in the info bar the EPG, the time, the signal and the CAM etc ...

But the picture is black and I have no sound (as if I had no signal).
Either the box starts itself when I go to the menu or I have to restart it myself, it is always different.
But if I go to my webcams favs (youtube, rtmp Streams etc), for example, the box restarts.

I have installed the recent VTI Image and a Vu+Zero4.

 

 

 

Please help me even if I don't have OpenPli ... I don't understand why I have this problem ...

It is doubtfull if EPGimport is causing this.  But you never know.

 

However a Vu+Zero4K is considered only a zapper.  And is probably a bit short of memory.

So I wonder how much EPG you import.  I have a ZGemma Star S which is short of memory and if I import more than 4 countries of EPG on it, it reboots spontaneously.

This is caused by a full memory.  EPG is stored in memory (always).

 

Try limiting your EPG to only the countries you need.

 

Another solution might be the installation of a swap file on a USB-stick.  (Search on the forum how to install a swap file).

 

PS:  It is also maybe wise to clear EPG before you import.  In EPGimport there is a setting for it.

I get the EPG from 2 countries. Once Germany and once France.

Do you think the memory is too "small"?

If you continue to recommend that I use swapping, I will try to swap some things on a usb stick ... also epgimport and especially the epg.dat.

Also, if the box crashes, there is a crash log in /media/hdd. You can post those here as an attachment so we can see the actual error.

There is a green "up-arrow" icon on the right of every post, just above the signature line.

 

But I think you need to be a "Senior Member" to be able to do so (due to the system being abused by fake accounts in the past).

Other info:

I might want to add that I have no problem with the same favorites list on my Vu + Solo2 and Vu + Zero. I think it's an important clue

I chose 32mb. But I don't think the swap is necessary. If I understand correctly, almost 800mb is free?!

A Zero 4K in general will have plenty of memory to store EPG.

 

On the epgimport screen, how many entries does it say it has imported? And if you look at /media/hdd/epg.dat (created to backup the EPG when you restart Enigma), how big is it?

 

So you need to check your crash logs, and report to VTI, as we can't fix any bugs in that image.

As you only import 2 countries, the lack of memory would not be a problem.

Other reasons are here the culprit.

 

In addition to the answers to the questions of Wanwizard, I would like to see the EPGimport.log, if you obtain it.  (after a crash or spontaneous reboot teh log is gone)

However, I will post the log when I have the black screen (not when it reboots, that wouldn't do any good) - or can I see what's "working" -Processes that run in the background (something like TOP) somewhere else - that is, where is logged, what the Vu + is doing right now. Oh my god, I’m so hard to explain

This ia approx. what I have imported on a much smaller machine.  So that would be OK.

And on my HD2400 the epg.dat file is 31350 kb. 

I think we have to look elsewhere.

 

Are you using Autotimer?

If so have a good look if there are still entries which point to a now not existing service.

Since autotimer is run just after an EPGimport, this could also be the culprit.

Either way, there would be a crash log in /media/hdd, looking in those logs would be more informative than speculation.
