I have Openpli 7.3 on Vu+ Duo2 and have noticed recently the info bar appears randomly and closes in 5 seconds. I think this has started to happen since I configured VPN (on router, not on the box) and tinkered with the different settings for authentication/http/etc but I cannot say for sure. Because of this I always check to see if someone is connected to my box and I can't see anyone ( it is unlikely anyway, given there is no port forwarding and attackers would need certs). Any ideas anyone?

You can use "netstat -tp" to check what has a connection to your box.

With VPN's you have to be very careful, it is a network tunnel, so whatever is on the other end has full IP access to your box, which depending on what "the other end is", is potentionally the entire world.

I just run the command, see attached screenshot. The second entry is the connection from my Android phone but the first one looks very much the culprit. Can someone validate it?
If that is correct, I wonder how they can connect, I set the vpn on the router with certificates and also set http connections with password too.
It'd be great if someone created articles on how to tighten security with steps and screenshot, although it would prove very difficult to cover all scenarios.

I misread, I was under the impression you configured a VPN on your box. For the router, the same remarks apply (if you use it for incoming connections).

As to the infobar, it can also popup if the now/text information changes, for example around the start of a new programme, or when the text changes, You can disable this in the configuration.

The connection I was suspicious about seems to be legit (I disabled VPN and Ddns on the router, rebooted and it's still there). That's reassuring.
Regarding the hint for the info bar (my original issue), I've changed that setting now and will keep an eye but I am not sure that's the reason for the random display of the infobar: it's happened in the middle of a program. I don't understand what you mean when you said "when the text changes", shouldn't that happen when a program changes only?
If anyone else has any other ideas, you are more than welcome to chime in.
Many thanks so far to @WanWizard and @littlesat!

Usually when the programme changes, but it could also be when the time of rht current of next programme changes.
