Can you restart Dreambox support please? I have done the mistake to get a DreamOne but without your support the box is just a piece of CRAP. A powerful piece of CRAP

If DMM is willing to support us, why not? That is up to them.

Given the fact they dumped all open source support, it is quite unlikely that will ever happen though...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Own fault! If you insist on having OpenPli, you should have consulted the OpenPlii homepage first to see if the box is supported.
Dream is building based on Closed Source, so only Dream suppirted images will be available. DreamOS 2.6, Merlin, NewNigma etc. will work AND have all the latest drivers ensuring full hardware support. With a fake OpenPli, OpenATV, OpenVision etc. there is no guaranty that the latest drivers are used, causing functions to fail (or not being present at all)..

Buying the Dream One UHD, Dream Two UHD means you pay for the development as well. A simple box (by hardware) should not cost €269. If you want to spend time and effort, the box shows promise (but is still heavily overpriced!). If you don't, it's not for you..

Calliing it CRAP is another thing, I would not call it crap since it has a lot of possibilities and offers a lot IF you are willing to invest the time... The time of DM800 is long, long gone..

I think when you want to buy a STB first you need to think how your mind works:

- Do I like Apple (iPhone) products or do I like Android products?

The moment you choose a closed-source product go with dreambox.

Every image based on DreamOS is a backup with some modifications but they may be stable as rock.

In my opinion dreambox is shitbox but this is only my point of view, another person may find it even better than Edision 4K products, just keep in mind that buying closed-source devices would tell the wold "This is the way".

Pierce,

You have great images for the DreamOne/DreamTwo, the unofficial OpenPli 8.xstar, but also the OpenATV 7.2 and then 7.3, as well as the OpenBH (the team accepted we built for these boxes).

Enjoy the images, as you will have all the good of the openpli, and other images on these extremly powerful hardwares !

And with the demise of Dream Property GmbH and the loss of the official support servers it it highly questionable to buy a Dreambox nowadays!! The boxes have potential but without official support it is not a box to buy as a novice…

I purchased a DreamOne about 3 weeks ago and have been very disappointed with it.  I have yet to find any image for the DreamOne that compares even in a similar way to the images and performance of the Edision 4K receivers or the Octagon SF8008. The factory images that I have tried remind me of something from around 2008 in design and all of the pre-built Open images (OpenPLI, OpenATV...etc) that I tried have major bugs or issues.

On paper, the DreamOne should be a great performer and it probably performs OK as a subscription box in other parts of the world. I live in North America where satellite C/Ku blindscan is used to find feeds and sometimes channels that stay running for months at a time. The requirements for a fta receiver are a bit different in North America as compared to Europe. I own a pretty extensive list of enigma2 fta receivers and right now the DreamOne ranks at the very bottom of the worst fta enigma2 receivers that I own.

Some things about the DreamOne are absolutely ridiculous. Images need to be loaded using a computer. There was a portal of sorts for recovery that no longer works and I have yet to find a way to load a kernel file. All of the images I have tried to build for the DreamOne using various distros have either failed outright, didn't boot or were barely usable when they did boot.

Then there is the tidbit about most of the information for the DreamOne being in German. I neither read nor speak German so I am sure there are several things that could make my life better with the DreamOne that I do not know about.

I am not trying to complain about the DreamOne because i knew the chance I was taking purchasing it.  Hopefully one day things will improve, but the way it looks, it might take a year or two before it gets any better. "Best of luck" to anyone who Purchases a Dreambox to use in North America.

In part I can understand your ‘disappointment’ regarding the Dream-One. The factory skin is so 2006.. As a vivid Dreambox user from 2004 I have - and still - owned most models including the DM-One. If you are looking for a modern GUI I suggest you install the Peter-Pan image. Graphics and options galore - you can even create your own skin layout! You can find it at www.digsat.net

Thanks for the suggestion Mimisiku.  A skin is not my real concern as long as it does not crash and shows the different menus properly. The PeterPan image lasted all of 10 minutes before being erased. Dreambox thinks the world ends at 50 west and c band does not exist.  Installing these images reminds me of going to an enigma2 antique show.  :)
