Basic question :

In the audio plugin, does the 'Multi-channel downmix' set to red affect all channels ?

PS : OpenPli 7.3 and Vu+ Duo 4K

Depends on what you mean by "audio plugin".

Everything in the audio and subtitle screens (yellow button, audio button if you have it) is a per-channel setting. For a global settings, you need to be in the A/V settings menu.

With the Duo 4K you don't need it btw, it will downmix automatically if the device at the other end of the HDMI cable reports it only support 2 channel audio.

For SP/DIF, you need to globally downmix, as SP/DIF doesn't have bandwidth for more than 2 PCM channels.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

When downmix multi canaux is off (Dolby Surround On), the sound level is lower than when it is on. Is it normal ?

The sound level on the hdmi output is in general very low comparing the DUO 4K to the old VU+ UNO.

Is it an hardware default ?

I don't have a home theater and have a huge volume difference between the downmix on and off.

I also experience this when switching from different box brands on the same TV sound level.

I think that it is the driver that manage the sound level so I guess that this should be escalated to the manufacturer to increase the output level.

The VU+ boxes are known for a relatively low volume on downmix, I need to adjust the TV volume when I switch from the VU+ to another brand box.
