As of today, OpenPLi 8.0 Release Candidate is available for download and installation.

The release candidate is a pre-release test version, and will be publicly available for a limited time only.

Only install this version when:

• you have a proper backup.
• if you intend to test this version
• if you want to provide feedback here.

At this point we can not guarantee it is free from (serious) errors.

Once testing is over, any issues found are addressed and OpenPLi 8.0 Release has been made public, we will remove the release candidate images and their feeds. You will no longer be able to update, and need to flash the official release image.

We therefore suggest basic end-users should not install this version but wait for the official release instead.

I've just tested it on a OsMio+ 4K.

I haven't noticed anything wrong......... until I've tried to switch (multiboot) to another image.

 

After selecting desired image it appears this screen.........  rebooting.jpg   82.1KB   38 downloads......... and box stop here.

 

I have to unplug it and plug it again to get it working , and it boots to previously selected image.

Afaik nothing has changed to the multiboot system. I have seen no issues with my SF8008.

 

If it boots the previous image, it means it didn't even get the updating the startup options.

I've tested it again, and now it works fine.  ??!!??

 

I had checked it TWICE before, and both times box got frozen at that screen.

Imagine, when I saw it, I had time to go to another room to look for my phone and take that screenshot.

The only thing I've done since it's working is an online update (1 update, bootlogo),

Maybe a timing issue somewhere? If it happens more often, we'll need to look into it.

I do not have such problems with the same receiver. Anyone tested KODI? It starts but media player is not working for me.

On my Vu+ Solo2 now I have the same problem like on OpenATV 6.4, OpenViX 5.4 with scanning 4.8E and 0.8W. Example 12322 V and 12360 V.

 

On OpenPLi 7.3 after full scan 4.8E, Animal Planet Europe - 12322, Animal Planet Poland HD - 12360

 

On OpenPLi 8.0 RC after full scan 4.8E, Animal Planet Europe - 12322, Animal Planet Poland HD - 12322

 

Manual scanning 12360, now Animal Planet Europe - 12360 and Animal Planet Poland HD - 12360... the same on 0.8W.

It works for me. Connect to receiver via telnet and type passwd

Looks like that KODI have a problem on my osmio4k too.I can install kodi addons from zip but when I run it from repository I have error message:

could not connect to repository.Looks like something is wrong..

Although several manufacturers have initiated Kodi we have never supported this plugin.
If it works it’s nice, if not then it’s a pitty. Sorry.

i would like to know how to use WireGuard i installed created a wg0.conf and rebooted the box (vu_ ultimo4k) issued wg command and shows nothing, looks as not working or started. thanks

I´m relative new to OpenPli and never made an upgrade to a major version before. When 8.0 reaches stable, can I do the upgrade online or have I to use an USB-stick in any case?

Usually we aim that people perform an upgrade like they can do on a weekly base.
I would like to advice you to follow the announcement when the Release 8.0 goes public.

Tested on Octagon SF8008 twin and on an old Xtrend ET10K.

Works fine on both boxes, I haven't found any bug.

Does your box have a password set? SSH is disabled until you set a password.
