Thanks, it's just not nice, when (for many users) important functions in current software suddenly no longer work properly ...

Why should you buy a vu-box or even a Linux receiver the next time? The arguments become fewer.
Whining doesn't help. it is not your problem.

Nevertheless, thanks for your good work

current active Boxes:

Zgemma H7S, Vuuno4kse, Vuduo4kse & Octagon SF8008 @ Astra 19,2° & Hotbird 13°

We know that, and we would like to see it differently. Unfortunately, in this market consumer after-care doesn't seem to exist.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

here there are a code:

https://pastebin.com/AXUFt0Fk

activate the start in debug mode via the switch-off menu.
Then play the mp4 / mkv file as desired.
Everything that happens then is saved as a log in the home directory.
Then restart the receiver normally.
log then paste here as code, or as zip.

All the releases have always not made exteplayer3 work, I tried with openpli-8.0-release-sh1-20210301_usb.zip and it doesn't work.

Out of curiosity I flashed openpli-develop-sh1-20210304_usb.zip and exteplayer3 worked again. I think that the error in the stable branch depends on ffmpeg, on the stable channel when installing it skips libraries. Will the fix that's present from develop be on the stable release?

This has been discussed many times, a simple search would have told you so.

As to your question: Yes, if we can find a way to shave off 13MB from the develop image size (it is currently too big for a number of boxes, it won't flash).

Yes, that is an option, but it won't save 13MB, I've already tried ;).

Wait....
Regarding ffmpeg, I still have an idea to do justice to the problems.

The question is how do I best do it?
Should I just create a pull request and let a build with the change go through?
If that would work, the profit would be big too.

As far as Samba is concerned, I am still a friend of Samba3 and see no disadvantage for all receivers and their users.
But that's another matter.

Alternatively, we could change the construction in the current 8 branch.
Then come there as an update.
Feedback from testers is important.

Pull request to 8?

perhaps to release without samba

I use samba, it is very important as with automounts.

But with the stable release I still have space available on the flash memory, the 13mb problem lies on even older boxes than this?

Now I realized that it is an argument already dealt with but I had written at the end of January and the subject was discussed at the end of February.
I have another question, is the 13MB problem only valid for other boxes? Because on zgemma h2 there is space available in the internal memory.

There are 2 different things to consider.
1. The amount of memory available
2. The limitation of the flash size by the bootloader

The second is much more important with the mipsel.
92-96mb are not uncommon here.
Do not look at the zip file.
Exactly this limit is currently just exceeded with some boxes if they need the libav from ffmpeg as a depend.
This is the manufacturer's specification and you can only try to reduce the size of the libav.
Or, alternatively, do without other things in the Flash image. It can be reloaded (Samba would be conceivable here).
The best compromise is currently being sought.
How well the compromise works can then be made more dependent on feedback.
You just can't test everything.
So feedback is always nice whether it works or not (with log).
So if you could test an image from the current develop in the next few days, it would be nice.
Image after March 5th ... so currently not available.

greetings

There is a new build "openpli-8.0-release-sh1-20210308_usb.zip" if I wanted to install it do you need a log of some specific part?

No, nothing has changed in the construction (ffmpeg).
For you, develop will currently be the better option.

The things from there will eventually flow into the next version.
If you feel like it, you can test the current develop.
Feedback is always good.

greetings

Right, already noticed on 7.x I had the same problem. Solution, move 1 channel at a time or an edit software like i.e. lamedb or E-channelizer

Can you specify PRECISELY what you do? Which actions, from where, in which order?

I use move mode on a weekly basis as I maintain my channel lists on the box, and I've never ever seen a crash.

open channel favourites list,

Menu, move mode, opt 6

Select channel to move,

move to new place

ok

and then, when menu again and opt 6, when exit, crash and green screen.

I had this a lot of times, so I use now an edit programm.
