Thank you for the good image. It is working really smooth on my VU+ Ultimo 4K

 

So nice, that Kodi 18 finally found its way to OpenPli.

 

Until now, I found one issue: There is no sound at all in Kodi. No system sounds - and no sounds from add ons.

It might be you're still missing something you need to install by hand.

 

We don't use Kodi ourselfs, and don't have any members on the team why any knowledge, so we need to rely on contributions from other developers.

I can confirm no audio with Kodi with vu on ultimo4k you only hear some rare tjirps...‘I’m afraid somehow driver/bsp related.

Can confirm so sound in KODI

Have tested with Ultimo4k and fresh install also install with "upgrade settings" from 7.3, all resulting in no sound.

Works fine with 7.3

 

Also tested openspa 7.4.012 that uses same version of KODI as 8.0 (KODI 18.9) and sound works OK (also working KODI on MIPS (DUO2) with sound.)

Does it use in OpenSpa the Kodi player (we're using now in Kodi) or still the work-a-round via enigma2 to play in Kodi on the VU boxes?

I'm afraid this should be solved in the bsp...! This is not an OpenPLi 'issue'...

From what i can see the config files in KODI shows the same player as in 8.0 BUT the player control looks different, Maybe a skin thing but i dont know for sure.

As littlesat says, this seems to be a driver problem rather than a player problem as there are no system sounds either

Running Edison OSmio plus 4k and have an issue with the remote but the sound is fine so would agree it’s not an Openpli issue.

I used OpenATV in Openmultiboot and the sound on KODI works properly. I asked also my friends with Ultimo4k and they confirmed about no sound on KODI at Pli8.

When I installed Netflix on KODI I installed all required addons by hand.

 

When I run KODI on PLi8 there is no "klik" when using remote buttons. On ATV 6.4 when using remote buttons i hear "klik" but no on PLi8.

Hereby confirm that there is no sound on KODI installed on Ultimo 4K. Nevertheless that Netflix, DAZN etc. are installed and working, they are as well without sound so useless in that condition. With PLi 7.3 and the older version of KODI, there was sound.

Not sure if the "KODI no sound" issue is applicable only on Ultimo 4K with PLi 8.0 or other Vu boxes as well, but looks like some package regarding the sound is not installing causing the problem.

I also can confirm it but this is clearly something vu should clear in their bsp player or someone needs to point us to the solution so we can notify Vu...
It looks like something deviates on the drivers (alsa interface?) I can sometimes hear some distorted audio.... it is not totally nothing

Regarding the No sound error in 8.0 on Ultimo4K.

Here are a KODI crashlog if it helps anyone with the right knowledge 

 

i am starting KODI and choose the CNN video addon, (installed since before) playing any video and then closing KODI again.

Lots of errors but make no sense to mee.

Happy New Year everyone.
I have already asked a question, but I have not received an agreement. Let me try again: I'm using Zgemma H7s, I installed OpenPLi 8 in flesh, but I can't install ffmpeg or extplayer3.
Is there a way to install ffmpeg? I installed e2iplayer-deps, however there is still no extplayer3. Probably not set on feeds yet. Will that be done? If not, is there an .ipk file and if so, can any of the developers post it in this thread?
I take this opportunity to express my great gratitude to the PLI team programmers. OpenPLi is still the fastest image. I hope the problem with the extplayer is resolved quickly
