this is on the homebuild image (slot5)

Flashing via telnet is possible. But as I don't know what slot slot 5 is, I cannot give you the command.

Well, you executed the command above while slot 5 is running?

If yes, then slot 5 = slot2.

But can't you please post debug log. Then we know more and maybe can fix the problem.

If you don't know how to do it:

https://wiki.openpli...ebugging_Enigma

I only need to see start. So you can immediately stop/restart e2 again in normal mode.

Enigma2 finds a STARTUP_LINUX_5. But when you manually searched for it (the mount and ls command) the file wasn’t there. Did you execute the mount command on this box?

The devices are more or less partitions in the flash memory.

/dev/mmcblk0p15 is a partition named e2tv. Don’t know what it is.

And question is who has created the STARTUP_LINUX_5 file. It’s not default that it is there.

Ok, one mystery cleared up.

So it uses /dev/mmcblk0p15 for the rootfs and /dev/mmcblk0p19 (the kernel from slot 1) for the kernel.

Now the question is where the file comes from.

To be honest. I would remove the STARTUP_LINUX_5 file. Then you "only" have 4 slots, but the 5th will always make trouble if you want to use it. Instead of deleting you can also e.g. move it to somewhere else.

Offtopic i saw this

 Expert
It's possible to add extra image by manually add startup lines like STARTUP_LINUX_5, STARTUP_LINUX_6
Copy STARTUP_LINUX_1, 2, 3 or 4 to STARTUP_LINUX_5, 6 etc, and modify the 'rootsubdir' option in the bootargs.
The kernel will be shared with the linux 1, 2, 3 or 4 image, depending on which startup file you copied.

on this site

https://github.com/o...liance/bootmenu

is it possible to remove all slots to 1 slot then i can on one multibox (daily user) remove all slots and the other one i can use for multiboot en testing.

Now the question is where the file comes from.

I buy the box new and this image (Homebuild Openpli) already installed on the box and Android to when i want to upgrade it dont work becaus its a homebuild version on startup 5

From my point of view it can’t be a brand new box. Or seller has flashed that image. But still would be strange.

The kernel will be shared with the linux 1, 2, 3 or 4 image, depending on which startup file you copied.

is it possible to remove all slots to 1 slot then i can on one multibox (daily user) remove all slots and the other one i can use for multiboot en testing.

I guess (not 100% sure) that flashing the recovery image will delete all installed images.

And yes, you can add more startup files and reuse kernels. But this “can” make trouble if kernel changes. In general it should work as kernel changes are quite rare.
