Hi,

i use plugin vpn manger on openpli-7.2 and also in openpli 8 - that works but only with the workarround from following link;

https://forums.openp...dpost&p=1283538

you can find the plugin vpn manager in this link too.

i use always a static ip on my e2 boxes

the problem if you use vpn manager without the workarrond is that the internet connection didn't works after a box reboot

because the vpn manager use as standard the dns servers  103.86.96.100 and 103.86.99.100

but if you start the box new you indeed can see the file /etc/resolv.conf with the filecommander plugin but you can't open it with plugin filebrowser

at that it comes a error message which says the file /etc/resolv.conf isn't present.

i don't know whats wrong here , in openatv that works without problems.

in openpli it only works with the workarround as following;

edit the file /etc/resolv.conf so that it looks as following;

# Generated by resolvconf
nameserver 103.86.96.100
nameserver 103.86.99.100

and then use the following command;

chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf

so that the file can't be overwrite after a reboot.

regards

Pike

Wierd when the plugin says the file does not exist while it exists......looks more that the plugin does not resists when nameserver is not in the config....
For what do you need openvpn in the first place?

The plug-in creates a symbolic link from /etc/resolv.conf to /etc/resolv.conf which causes the problem. In other images /etc/resolv.conf is a link to somewhere else and the problem doesn’t occur.

/etc/resolv.conf to /etc/resolv.conf

On the same location?

When the plugin just 'covers' the file it should not care...

Yes. Plugin needs little change.

Hi guys,

as i understand it right, then the plugin is the problem ?

For what do you need openvpn in the first place?

i need it not always but often (i'am not sure if i understand the question right)

earlier i used plugin vpnchanger for that, this plugin works good with openpli but this plugin didn't considered a possible dns leak.

the plugin vpnmanager creates also a resolv.orig and in this file is always the correct dns as following;

# Generated by resolvconf
nameserver 103.86.96.100
nameserver 103.86.99.100

but i don't know if this is correct because i use before i install vpnmanager always the dns (namserver) from my router (fritzbox)

so i think this is also not correct, because the original dns is that from my router.

Pike

Yes, is problem of the plugin. The script needs to check whether /etc/resolv.conf is a file or a symlink before changing it. I guess changing 2-3 lines would be enough.

Regarding DNS I cannot say something. I don't use VPN on the box.

I still do not understand why you need it.... but when it is for streams with geo locking some providers offer magic dns as work-a-round.... then no plugin is required at all.
