Hi,

some time back I was playing with the wakeup timer but decided to turn it off again, now the box, VU+ Solo2 has decided to randomly start and since HDMI CEC is enabled the Tv also starts.

This is somewhat irritating at 3 or 4 on the morning since this is a bedroom setup  :(

I have gone through all the settings in the GUI for the wakeup timer and removed/disabled everything but the box keeps starting.

Could there be any remains from from the wakeup timer in the Os that is causing this.

I'm not sure this is caused by the wakeup timer but since starting the box is what it does and I was playing around with it, it's a suspect.

Does anyone know where to look or have any other idea what is causing this and how to fix it.

Any help is appreciated

Hi,

I had face the same problem and trust me or not I left the RCU on the table and during the night the cats are pushing the wake up button when playing with each others so the TV turns on.

Now I place my RCU in a drawer and the problem no longer happened.

One of our ‘leasedogs’ also has the habit sitting on the RC. ;) FYI. A leasedog is a temporarely pet. ;)

One or two modest kicks helped. :)

Thanks for your reply Dimitrij.

I have removed all timers and double checked that "Enable wakeup timer" is set to no.

However, box still starts itself randomly.

And, we have no pets, at least none we know of :-) Remote usually sits in the sideboard drawer when not used.

see, if there in /hdd/ are some crashlogs ...  when enigma crashed, then is box started ...

Do you use EPG refresh plugin? It can also start your box.

Thanks for your suggestions, I have checked /hdd and there are no crash logs.

I do use the EPG refresh plugin, however, been doing so for years and this problem started just a few months ago.

Anyway, when I checked the settings in EPG refresh there were 5 rows with status updating but only 4 had a channel defined.

I removed everything for now and disabled automatic refresh, let's see what happens.

@csn7446

Hi.

Try to enable debug mode in OpenPLi.

After 2x random crashes/restarts of your device, then you need to look in these two created DEBUG-LOG files. You can also post them here - into the discussion. If the last records are roughly the same, it is necessary to look for the cause there - that is, according to the matching records discovered in these last two DEBUG-LOG files.

EDIT:

Oh, sorry... you metioned START, not RESTART. Sorry :).

So you write about accidentally starting a set-top box from deep standby.

Maybe you could try working for a while without a connected LAN cable (internet / local network). Maybe something turns on your set-top box remotely, using the WOL (Wake-On-Lan) function via a network interface.

Alternatively, it would help to connect a serial interface (RS-232) if your set-top box has it and then diagnose via a terminal connection, for example on a Windows PC using a PuTTY application, you can monitor what is happening (even if your set-top box is deep standby). Of course, your set top box must have a serial (RS-232) interface. For this purpose, a simple communication serial cable is sufficient (so-called NULL-MODEL connection, via only three wires - Rx, Tx, GND).

Not @csn7446, but @s3n0 :).

If I have to tell you what to do it... then, unfortunately, I don't know if you can do this as yourself / alone ... I mean RS232 connection to a PC and then monitoring the terminal on a connected serial interface (RS232) - for example using PuTTY app in a Windows PC. When waking up the set-top box from the deep standby, the information from the serial communication interface should also be shown in PuTTY app.

Of course, Vu+ devices have a built-in RS232 interface, because they are more expensive and better brands. However, the classic D-SUB 9-pin 2-row connector is not used there, but the less used RJ12, in which there is also a pin for an external IR sensor. A so-called NULL-MODEM serial cable, made of only three wires, should suffice. The connection pins for the universal RJ12 connector is here: (I sent it to someone recently)
