Hi,

when I want to install plugin mediaportal, the dependencies downloaded from openpli feed are

Downloading *ttp://downloads.openpli.org/feeds/openpli-7-release/mips32el/python-youtube-dl_2020.06.16.1-r0.0_mips32el.ipk.

witch is clearly outdated as there is 2021 version now. How do I install this with updated phyton youtube ?

Thank you in advance

I overwrite phyton2.7/site-packages/youtube-dl with newer version from youtube-dl but that does not work :(

Help please.

So you have a different issue.

The latest mediaportal is dated 2020-06-02/05, I don't see why that would need a version newer than was available at that time?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Good

Unfortunately not
This is then updated and the version is queried internally for youtube_dl.
The main problem for the creator is that the version is exactly right.
Therefore you have to follow this version exactly.
Silly, but not solvable otherwise

Who checks what where and why?

There's an update almost every other day, not looking forward to having to update a stable release image every day.

The developer from the media portal integrates this query into his plug-in.
Each update of the plugin then requires a specific version of the Youtube_dl.
The only way to solve the problem is to build this version like this.
Unfortunately, building via gitpkv does not always work because git has made adjustments with additional parameters.
No, you don't have to update the version every day. Maybe you should check it out every 2 months.

I've checked, we build using AUTOREV, so every monday after the release update build the latest version should be available.

The current version in 8.0-release is only 3 commits behind HEAD.

Yes, but here 7.3 was asked, or did I misunderstand something?

Ah, ok. We don't update that anymore, so an update to the current release is needed.

But I've looked into the code, and it won't work anyway, the plugin does a "opkg list-installed | grep youtube-dl", and then regexes on YYYYMMDD in the package name, which we don't have.

Thank you for all the info but even with the link above, that does not install on vu duo2 , openpli 7.3, I still get the same error on liveleak mediaportal,

-YoutubeURL- Error: Installed python-youtube-dl package doesn't match required version, required python-youtube-dl version 2020207 or newer, currently installed version 20200616

Why doesn't overwriting /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/youtube_dl with latest version work anymore ? It used to ...

Thank you for help

@WanWizard

"YYYYMMDD"

should normally arise from this automatically.
Unfortunately, it doesn't always work because of the git, as the day is often structured differently here.

https://github.com/O...e-dl.bb#L16-L17

python-gdata...mhhh

not really necessary.
I'll build a new one right away

no luck neither with removing mediaportal and youtube-dl , afterwards when all removed, reinstalling mediaportal automatically fetches youtube-dl on feed

opkg install --no-install-recommends enigma2-plugin-extensions-mediaportal_all.ipk

Installing python-youtube-dl (2020.06.16.1) on root
Installing enigma2-plugin-extensions-mediaportal (2020060205) on root
Configuring python-youtube-dl.
Configuring enigma2-plugin-extensions-mediaportal.

/sigh ...

Yes, I get that, but no idea how to deal with it, I'm still an OE n00b in that respect.

Working solution and installation found,

remove mediaportal , remove youtube-dl  opkg remove ...

then install python-youtube-dl_git2020.12.09-r0_all.rar  (google it plenty of upload places)

then reinstall mediaportal and all working again (liveleak youtube videos)

Thank you all for all your help pointing me in the right direction.

Regards
