I am wondering why my OpenPLI boxes are zapping slowlier and slowlier with every release.

I have Hotbird en Astra 1-3 to be selected via an Diseq switch. LNBs are probably the first generation that supports 8 receivers and support the digital channels.

I use a VU+Duo2 en a VU+SoloSE, the first is the fallback receiver for the second.

Does the version of OpenPLi affect the zapping speed when watching FTA channels?

My feeling is: changing to a channel on the same transponder is the fastest, and changing to a channel on a different satellite is the slowliest.

Further the elder the version of OpenPLi, the faster the zapping speed apperst to be.

But is this really true?

Is version 6.2 really slowlier than 8.0?

I just don ´t know.

Both boxes run now 6.2 and except the artwork I cannot tell if 8.0 is really slowlier than 6.2

I normally adjuste all GUI setting the same way.

I don't see any change, and don't know of any reason why.

Zapping between "Das Erste" and "ZDF" on 19.2 happens within 0,5sec here.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

The zapping speed is at least a second for the Duo2, which is fed by two satellite cables. I can understand that the SoloSE takes more time due to the remote fallback receiver.

Does the age of the boxes plays a role?

I doubt it, maybe a bit of processing might be involved, but most of the time its waiting for DiseqC switches to respond and tuners to lock.

Also, some will show the image before it is in sync, others show a black screen until then, which gives the illusion of a slower zap (this can be configured if the drivers support that).

And let's not forget the niceties like picons and (additional) skinparts.... I don't use OpenPli but images handle tuning the same...
Channel Select-DiseqC-Lock-OSD-Decoding-Demuxer-Picture
Whether you use OpenPli, OpenATV, VTi handling is the same... Only difference may be the SoC speed and number of cores... But don't think in seconds, it's mere milleseconds...

Picon might indeed be of influence, mine are stored on a dead-slow USB stick, and the difference is noticable.

On the duo2 it's possible to run lcd4linux. Maybe it's the culprit there too.
