Is it a way in the future to have a possibility to read avi files (old files) ?

For the moment, there is only the sound but no pictures.

There is no problem with mkv files.

It seems that, this problem is only on Vu+ 4K.

That depends on what (which codec) is in the avi container. VU+ uses the latest Broadcom SDK for their drivers, which has dropped support for a few old codecs.

You can check what is needed if you play them in vlc, or install mediainfo on the box and check on the commandline.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Also,  Vu+ need to adapt their code to the hardware (Broadcom SDK) to read old codecs.

You can forget that, the SDK don't support those anymore.

It is strange because a cheap android box read all video codecs (4k and old)

Exact. It is a change made by broadcom in the latest version of the SDK. Which VU+ uses. Other vendors using Broadcom still use the previous version (of haven't updated drivers in dogs years...).

Edision is the proverbial exception, yes. It is even the only vendor that regularly releases kernel updates. Most others still run on the same kernel the box was released with.
