I have been using version 8 for just over a week and realised that it has a bug, out of the 8 available record channels, I am not limited to just 2, all the others are 'no tuner'.

would the writer of the code please look at this and return with an update

Thanking you

Chris Found

I doubt that, what is your exact setup? What is your definition of "an available record channel"?

Currently in use: VU+Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), Amiko Viper T2C (T2+fallback), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (T2+fallback)

No, it was setup correctly, the unit has up to 8 channels which it did at the start, now it will only record 2

Doesn't change the fact that as long as you don't provide any information, I can't feed my crystal ball...

If you are really sure that your configuration is correct (which you haven't shown us ;)), then at best start from scratch. Means flash new image and DON'T restore configuration.

In some rare cases this is needed as the GUI cannot fix it. E.g. this can happen if you switch tuner cards.

I am not an amateur, having had one sat box or another since 2000.

When you first install the new version, it works perfectly, leave it until the next day you can only record 2 channels.

This is not setup as I managed to get it working before, its a software problem. I use OpenPLi 8.0

You keep on moaning, but don't give us any information, which has been asked repeatedly.

Given the fact thousands of users don't have any issue and you're the only one with this complaint, chances are the problem is at your end.

Describe your settings and say the name of the receiver.

OK, VU Uno 4K is the box, this advertised the ability to record 8 individual channels per polarity, the box is connected to 2 individual LNB's.

Please note. I am not moaning just depressed after spending a lot of money on a sat box and after this time its not working.

I am an engineer and know the basics of the receiver on a technical basis, so in all essence it should have worked perfectly.

to be honest, only PLI seemed to sort this but the problem is very mind blowing, one minute you can record 16 channels / stations then it flips out and you are limited to 2, then 4 , so is it box

Chris.

Ok, perhaps I need to apologise and I really do need your help, this is not my normal approach to problems solving

Ok, here is the recap

VU UNO 4K SE with Version 8 of pli software

Two LNB's of 4 available

28.2 Fixed position, free to air

OK, VU Uno 4K is the box, this advertised the ability to record 8 individual channels per polarity, the box is connected to 2 individual LNB's.

I think you have failed to undestand what a Full Band Capture tuner card does, and how it works.

An FBC tuner card can run into two different modes:

  • Unicable/JESS mode, where every tuner is assigned a unique SCR, and can receive every transponder independently of other tuners.
  • Legacy or DiseqC mode, where the card emulates a twin tuner card, with 6 additional internal tuners in loop-through mode.

From what I understand, you are using the second mode.

This means that for each of the connected cables (connected to the A and B tuner), once they have tuned to a transponder, the quadrant the transponder is locked to determines which channels the remaining tuners can see. This is because of the way a standard LNB works: it needs to switch between High and Low, and Horizontal and Vertical.

So yes, you could record 8 channels (and even more) simultaneously, but they need to be on transponders in the same quadrants as locked by tuners A and B.

If you don't want that restriction, you need to switch to Unicable LNB's.

To give an example:

if Tuner A is tuned to BBC One HD (on 10847V), that same cable can be used to tune BBC Two HD (same transponder, and will use tuner C) but can not be used to tune BBC Four HD (on 11023H), because the polarisation is different. Assuming the second LNB points to a different satellite. If you an LNB looking at 28.2 with two outputs, tuning BBC Four HD would select tuner B on the second cable.

What do those sentences from your other thread mean? If you have two LNBs, they can't be both pointing to 28.2 (unless they are on different dishes).

I think it may be better to draw a diagram of your dishes/LNBs if WanWizard's description does not clear the misconception. BTW, the reception restrictions you described apply to all images if you are not using Unicable/Jess devices.

Hi

I use two lnb on the same satellite is because I want to record more than one channel, I purchased the VU box because it apparently did what I wanted, apparently the design of the box is to be able to record multiple streams, I speak only english so the logics are there.

I am now wondering how many other users record in this way because cannot think anyone does this any other way, even using the unit with a multi-positioned dish the results would be the same, I do not diseqc

So if I am doing his wrong, tell me why

I do.

Fact remains, as I wrote before, this setup limits you to two quadrants, one per cable. If you thought that you can record 8 random channels with this setup, you were misinformed, you need Unicable LNB's for that.

Please post a picture of the LNB or LNBs on your dish to remove any ambiguity.

Apart from this all, DVB-S2(x) FBC users should change to UniCable setup for full FBC potential.. Satellite uses 4 quadrants VL, VH, HL and HH. Simultanuous recording/streaming only possible if the channels are in the same quadrant...
FBC works as you expect in DVB-C FBC only....
