I can't imagine the order of the bouquets is relevant?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

As I understand it, PSPad uses only a small section from the beginning of the file to autodetect the encoding.
If no UTF-8 characters are present in that section, it assumes the default encoding, which might be wrong.

Good you found the culprit.

Indeed.  Adding a few utf-8 characters in the beginning of the file caused PSPad to open the file correctly.

And also setting in the settings:  Standard CP for opening files to utf-8 helped.

But when you get it more in the beginning that way? (Or do I miss something else here?)
Crazy... I suggest this should always be read as utf8

@littlesat:

The contents of the file is not a problem.

It is the name of the file:  userbouquet.TéléSATBelgium.tv

A name which is created by the Fastscan Utility.

And this problem still exist when transferring the file from one receiver to another (both with OpenPLi develop - 5/04/2021) with fallback tuner utility.

The transfer is done via owif..... maybe also complaint there...
Beside this why do we need the accents in that name in the first place?

No, you do not need it.  Although the correct spelling is TéléSAT.   I think nobody will complain that you name it TeleSAT

The name is given by the fastscan utitly.

By removing the accents we simply avoid all possible issues... also with eg settings editors etc.... makes live easier... it is not the real solution I know....

It's a workaround that I'm not happy with.

Anyone can create bouquet file names with utf-8 characters in them, in some languages it is common place (cyrillic anyone?) and not so easy worked around.

How is the file transferred in the Fallbacktuner utitly?

(I cannot find it for the moment)

You say it is owif.  Maybe we have too look there.

I can image someone from Bulgaria creates a bouquetfile with the name:  userbouquet.Булсатком.tv

OWIF responds with "application/json; charset=utf-8" in the header, and the response shows the encoded characters as it should, so retrieving the filenames bit (/file?dir=/etc/enigma2) is ok.

If I look in the raw output of OWIF, I see

"/etc/enigma2/userbouquet.T\u00e9l\u00e9SATBelgium.test",

so UTF-8 encoded characters.

But then the code iterates over the retrieved files, and does

file = file.encode("UTF-8")

which is weird, since "file" is already encoded in UTF-8?

If you can test it?

Comment line 95 ( the line with "file = file.encode("UTF-8")" ) in /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Components/ImportChannels.py (install enigma2-src if you don't have the py files), restart Enigma, and retry the import.

Had to install enigma2-src.

However, the receiver does not want to start anymore.

Probably not enough memory.  This was done on a ZGemma Star S.  A very small receiver.

So I have to reflash the receiver the old-fashioned way.  With an USB.

What do you mean with "does not start anymore"? Does it not boot, or does Enigma not start?

What image was the last working image?

I once had kind of an equal issue with a Zgemma Star 2S. Wasn’t able to flash any OpenPLi image and was about the throw it in the dustbin.

As a last attempt I tried to flash some alternative images. After having tried I tried to flash OpenATV. I didn’t perform the full backup. After this I tried to flash OpenPLi again and the miracle happened. I was able to flash any alternative image but logically I just flashed OpenPLi.
Don’t ask what might be the cause of the issue nor what might have solved it but that box is still running on OpenPLi. :)
