I don't get it. Samba on Kodi at least works, in contrast to Openpli.

Sorry, I did not explain properly.

I mean the Operating System (Linux) and enigma2 can provide you with network mountpoints.

Kodi can use these mounts.

For mysql is different OFC.

Cheers

A.A.

Huh?

sorry, what I meant was the network browser. (I hope it's the correct term, I have it installed in German)
It shows the Servers, but when you try to select a share, it fails in 75% of the servers (at least in my network) and doesn't expand the shares list.

But this is a bug that is there for ages.

Because it is 15 year old code that only supports NetBIOS / SMBv1.

Since that is switched of on most servers, enumeration of shares doesn't work anymore (and anonymous enumeration will never work anymore, other mechanisms all require a server login first.

And appearently developers don't use is, since nobody has found the time to do something about it (same is true for IPv6).

You might need the line "disable netbios = Noin /etc/samba/smb-user.conf, netbios was disabled by default a while ago...

## User changes to Samba config go here

## You can overrule the insecure defaults and enforce password
## protected access to shares by uncommenting the following
## line, including the secure settings:

[global]
#       include = /etc/samba/distro/smb-secure.conf
        disable netbios = No

## You can hide and veto access to certain directories, e.g. mount points of
## other boxes in order to prevent round trips through your LAN
## In Samba 4.x this needs to be configured per share:

[Root]
#       veto files = /ThisBox/OtherBox/AnotherBox/YetAnotherBox/
#       hide files = /ThisBox/OtherBox/AnotherBox/YetAnotherBox/

[Harddisk]
#       veto files = /ThisBox/OtherBox/AnotherBox/YetAnotherBox/
#       hide files = /ThisBox/OtherBox/AnotherBox/YetAnotherBox/

Thanks but that line (disable netbios = no)  even makes it worse. It produces just additional waits, but doesn‘t help browsing.

On a side note: I didn‘t want to highjack this thread. Nevertheless from a developers standpoint I cannot accept „the developers don‘t use it“ as an excuse. II feel if something is not supposed to work properly, I think it should be removed.

Thanks for your replies.

Cheers

Logical, since this is a server setting, not a client setting.

And feel free to contribute if you think you can do better...
