Hi,

I am fixing the (first) annoying QA appearing during install:

 

scan-utils-vuduo2: Files/directories were installed but not shipped in any package:
  /usr/bin/.debug
  /usr/bin/.debug/ssh108
  /usr/bin/.debug/ssh108_t2_scan
  /usr/bin/.debug/tt2l08
  /usr/bin/.debug/tt2l08_t2_scan
  /usr/bin/.debug/tt3l10
  /usr/bin/.debug/tt3l10_t2_scan
  /usr/bin/.debug/vuplus_6211_blindscan
  /usr/bin/.debug/vuplus_6222_blindscan
  /usr/bin/.debug/vuplus_blindscan
Please set FILES such that these items are packaged. Alternatively if they are unneeded, avoid installing them or delete them within do_install.
vuplus-blindscan-utils-vuduo2: 10 installed and not shipped files. [installed-vs-shipped]

 

Here it is just bad packaging: there is one more package to create, containing debug

Now my doubts arise because *only one is stripped*, tda1002x

 

WARNING: vuplus-blindscan-utils-vuduo2-4.4-r5 do_package: QA Issue: File '/usr/bin/tda1002x' from vuplus-blindscan-utils-vuduo2 was already stripped, this will prevent future debugging! [already-stripped]

 

What is then the point? Are the unstripped files here by mistake?

Are we supposed to delete all debug files?
 

Let me know how you prefer to proceed.

 

P.S. This needs same fixes for 4k arm models surely..

Yes 4K models also gets this warning.

I have fixed it and built for all vuplus models

 

I started fixing the QA but the recipe was in such a state that I almost rewrote it completely.

 

PR is sent upstream, #99.

reading very old logs you seem the more knowledgeable one here about blindscan on vuplus

I just rewrote the recipe without checking the packaging so  please verify that each machine only gets what's needed and nothing more.

 

Some devices are getting the full list (11 items) installed.

Blindscan is a long time ago for me!

 

I abandoned the whole concept because it appears it's rubbish. It takes ages to complete, doesn't nearly find all transponders and last but not least, will often leave the tuner in a funny state where a reboot is required. I think the hardware is very well capable of doing a decent blind scan, but the implementation by the manufacturers (drivers layer) is really bad. The fact we need to use an external binary that directly connects to the I2C subsystem (completely bypassing the driver layer) is already a tell-tale sign.

I have retried here for vuduo4k and don't see any QA error, in the packages-split there are:

 

vuplus-blindscan-dvbc-utils-vuduo4k    ->  /usr/bin/bcm3148  /usr/bin/bcm3466)
vuplus-blindscan-dvbs-utils-vuduo4k    ->   empty
vuplus-blindscan-utils-vuduo4k-dbg     ->   2 bcm binaries with debug_info
 

And in fact we have:

 

PACKAGES = "vuplus-blindscan-utils-${MACHINE}-dbg \
            vuplus-blindscan-dvbs-utils-${MACHINE} \
            vuplus-blindscan-dvbc-utils-${MACHINE} \
            "

and  PLUGABLE_MODEL_BLINDSCAN_vuduo4k = "bcm3148 bcm3466"
 

Are you sure your meta-vuplus has the updated recipe?
