I stop using fallback tuner since months. What it does is downloading the channel list of the server and display it on your client box. So if you client box is DVB-S2X capable and your sever is not you cannot watch DVB-S2X.
It is a real nightmare if you want to combine you client local tuner with the remote server.
Your local favourite disappeared on the client and only the server one are shown.
When it cannot reach the server you retrieve the local favourite.
So this option is only usefull if you have a dedicated server and tuner less client.
Willing to combine local client tuner and server is a nightmare.

Nobody is forcing you to download a channel list?

 

I create and maintain my channel list on my SF8008, which has both DVB-S and DVB-T (no C here). All boxes download the channel list from that box.

 

For fallback streams, they get the S streams from my Duo4K, and the T streams from my SF8008.

 

Works fine and completely transparent.

You can solve the disappearance of the favorites bouquets list by allowing unlinked user bouquets…. Or even better put that userbouquet on the server box - a one time action. Use a settings editor for it so the lamedb on the server box is also updated. The best trick is to get the settings you want on the server box (one place)… the cliënt box just take the service lists from the server…

Enabling unlinked bouquet load them on top of the list and this is bad I would really prefer to have them added in the bottom of the list, so not a usable option. I need my bouquet stored in the order I decide and unlinked bouquet added at the bottom but this is not possible in OpenPLi.

 

In its very first version the fallback tuner was wonderful when all the local tuners were used it start a stream from the fallback server this was really nice.

Now that everything is changed and you turn this option into a pure tuner less client its is not usable for me.

 

Tricking the lamedb, come on, you are the first one to blame plugin that do this and here you told that it is the solution, sorry but I don't want to have greyed (unreceivable) channel into my channe list on the server. The server for me is a box used to watch TV too it is not a pure server stored somewhere in a cellar.

 

I know that most of you test boxes using this fallback feature so that's why it turns how it is now. But this particular case doesn't fit other possible usage of this option.

I guess that many people prefer to use them partnerbox plugin which is more flexible I think.

When fallback tuner was first introduced in OpenPLi it didn't download the userbouquet from the server, you simply define the fallback tuner IP when all the tuner from the client box where used and that you try to watch a channel it switch to the fallback tuner.

Simple, easy and efficient.  No complex stuff, no epg downloadn no remote recording no userbouquet download. This was a true fallback tuner.

 

 

The current implementation is fine for pure tuner less client, but is a nightmare for people willing to use the hybrid format local client tuner and remote server tuner as fallback.

It still doesn't if you don't want to? Download of EPG, Channels, Timers and streaming are four distinct functions that can be configured independently.

 

This box only imports EPG and timers, but no channels, from my VuDuo4K:

And my VuDuo4K imports channels from my SF8008, but nothing else. It uses the SF8008 also for fallback DVB-T channels.

If you don't want to import anything, just set "Import from remote receiver" to "No" ?

If you set:

• Fallback: Yes
• Import: No
• Import timer: No

You should have only fallback streaming.

A question for this option : Import remote receiver url

 

There is 3 possibilities: "same as stream", "enter Ip adress","enter URL"

 

What are the differences ?

Enter IP and enter URL gives you the option to import from a different box than what you stream from.

 

And you need IP if that box doesn't have a DNS entry or an mDNS entry (a .local name).
