To come back to an <off-topic> remark I made in another thread;  ".....like the annoying MAC address spoof of the iPhone". I was not quit explicit, the fact that they spoofed your MAC (they call it enable a Private address) can be IMHO an addition to anonymity or enhance privacy, but what I found "annoying" is the fact that it was not announced, so without any warning/information (or maybe I have missed it) they just enabled it by default. As my network works with IP reservation (MAC), this sudden change was quit "annoying".

When you distrust such large companies, you could come up with the idea that, after the introduction of a "new" MAC address, the only one that can still follow your path is the company, that from that  moment on, has the exclusive of this unique address..... ;)...and we may never resolve this, as it is closed source.

You can also disable it on Apple devices and they didn't release this option without communication, I was aware of this option more than 6 months before they released it, I read it on tweakers.net and several other sites.

In my opinion it is not boring, start by asking why they offered this option on the devices, even shops use wireless devices just for tracking people.......which is not so easy to do anymore.

Since I have nothing to hide I really don't care to be tracked. This is just boring to have a random MAC if you decide to assign a fixed IP at home from your router.

This is just boring to have a random MAC if you decide to assign a fixed IP at home from your router.

For privacy it is a kind of must to have this and probably soon or later it is mandatory for them to add this feature (or maybe in between it is already mandatory) due to GDPR.

Why do you want this in the first place...? Do you forward ports from the WWW directly to you iphone?

You can get the iphone via the router as host name via iphonenameofthatthing....?

The same can be done with a box with openpli on it... e.g. you can find a vu+ ultimo4k via host name vuultimo4k...

FYI https://www.extremen...lateral-damage/

Do you want your iPhone to have a static IP you simply configure it via the WiFi setup for that specific ssid… . Issue solved.... but note while connecting to hotspots you'll be tracked....

That's why Apple added the option to disable this functionality in whitelisted wifi networks :)

I also got nothing to hide but that's not automatically an approval to follow me and create a profile of it....so I do care!
