Hello all,

I have a Vu+ Zero (rev.2) and I'm facing some problems with a wifi pen (Chipset: MT7601U).

I have tried either the latest nightlhy build openpli-develop-vuzero-20211024_usb.zip and the stable realese openpli-8.1-release-vuzero-20211024_usb.zip.

Seems that the wifi adapter is not recognized by any way...

I had already tried this same wifi pen in the same equipment with other older openpli versions but not now :(

Any guess on how I can solve this?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

What have you done to make try to it working? Did you install the drivers for it?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

I tried to run the same commands posted on the following topic: https://forums.openp...n&topicID=33518

opkg update
opkg install firmware-mt7601u
opkg install kernel-module-mt7601usta
opkg install enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-wirelesslan

full reboot

Dindn't got to run the last one but after reboot and for the 1st time I got the wifi menu on the network options.

The problem was when I choose the option 'scan wireless networks' I got a green screen with a crash :(

Any guess what it could be?

Thanks for the help

If you get a green screen, there is a crash log on your box, can you retrieve and post it here (as an attachment)?

No, I'm not using multiboot... Just the clean original openpli image :(

What Im thinking it's quite strange is that almost for sure I have already use this same wifi pen on other VU+ zero but with an older openpli image and as far as I can remember it was all ok...

Gonna try and then reply... :thumbs-up:

There is any need to unistall the previous that I have installed?

Thanks for the help

The drivers will be the same for all OpenPLi versions, as the linux kernel version never changes. But the python library does change, I won't be the first time a bug creeped into one of those...

Ok...I see.

Before I try to install the drivers you provide... there is any need to unistall the previous one that I have installed?

Thks

The ipk's above are just meta packages, they only contain dependencies to the required kernel drivers (if more than one is needed).

And I doubt it will make a difference, as the problem isn't the drivers, the problem are the python iw libs...

I suspect a reflash is needed.
Apparently only updates were carried out and this was not sufficient with the changes in the construction.
So flash it again and then try again.
Settings can be restored.

I tried to flash the image many times... also tried some older version like openpli-7.3-release-vuzero-20211020_usb.zip and nightly builds too but without any luck.

In all of them the wifi menu never appeared, just when I run that commands that I mentioned.

Later Im gonna try the 2 .ipk posted by @Aliraza63

Well... tried to install both .ipk extensions... on both the installation went OK with 0 errors but when choosed 'scan wireless networks'... another green screen with a crash :(

Here goes the respective crash log

Attached File  enigma2_crash.log   16.96KB   18 downloads

Any guess what could might be the reason for this problem?

Thanks

That crashlog is from a DM800. We don't make software for a DM800, so you need to check with whomever made your image.

So not only a different box than before, but also a different image, and a completely unrelated error message.

In fact I noticed that on the first lines of the respective crash log it is mentioned:

stbmodel=zero
stbmodel=dm8000

Really don't know why because Im POSITIVE that I downloaded it from the VU+ zero with the latest stabel openpli installed... no doubt about it.
I repeated the process... MENU-SYSTEM-EXPERT SETTINGS-NETWORK-WIFI NETWORK-SCAN WIRELESS NETWORKS...got the same crash...
FTP the receiver and downloaded the log again from 'tmp' directory... (it has still that same name on the 'stbmodel' line)

This says it's a DM800 running OpenPLi 2.1 which was built on August 10th 2013. And with a crash date in 2013. So this is clearly not the log you intend to attach...

But is also contains fields (like version 3.0.0) and imageissue (OpenEmbedded Linux) which do not exist in our builds.

I bealive you but... I'm wordless

Really dont know why the log show that and what is happening...

I have used WINSCP to FTP the receiver with the respective IP, entered the 'tmp' folder and it was there the crash log...

In fact I have a DM800 with that image installed but I have it power off with the power cord unpluged... so I dont know is this possible...

I will reflash once more it with the latest stable  openpli-8.1-release-vuzero-20211024_usb.zip and repeat all steps...

You'll probably see the same as in your post #5, and you'll get the same reply as I have in post #12.

For some reason the driver returns data in its scan request that python's iw libs choke on.

Can you try this:

After you've installed the drivers, reboot the box. Don't do anything in Enigma, but telnet (or ssh) to the box, and issue the command

iwlist wlan0 scan

(if the interface is not called wlan0, issue the command "ifconfig" to find the name of the WLAN interface and use that instead)

and please post or attach the output here, so we can see if we can use that output to find the bug.
