As far as I'm aware, settings backups are never restored unless you confirm when prompted. (You need to tell it which one you want to restore.)

Maybe autorestore is a bit different?

/etc/resolv.conf will be in a settings backup.

The restore works different. When you do not want it you need to make the choice ‘no’ after the first reboot… when you nothing when it is prompted the default is yes, restore after a 20 sec timeout.

Yesterday, post #19 showed /etc/resolv.conf dated 9th March, the only way I can see that happening is if you did a settings restore.

Today, there are no settings to restore, so it looks like the issue is solved (kind of).

That's what I'd have expected, so why do the other builds appear to pick up an old version?

The current OpenPLi 8.1 is virtually identical to develop, it was synced not too long ago.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

When the box is asking for the language, dhcp has already given the box an IP and DNS:

root@sf8008:~# ls -la /etc/resolv.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 35 Jan 1 1970 /etc/resolv.conf

root@sf8008:~# cat /etc/resolv.conf
domain local
nameserver 172.16.1.1

after I run my autoinstall, there is no change, but after I've run the restore of my USB backup:

root@sf8008:~# ls -la /etc/resolv.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 35 Oct 29 03:02 /etc/resolv.conf

Hence, if the date is not 1970 or now, something is restored.
